Hi, luvs!

I just realized that it's close to my 10th anniversary here on LJ. I created this journal on October 24, 2006, made my first post on November 12th, and my first fic posting on November 21st (Announcement I: The Ready Room), introducing myself to the DC Comics community here on-line. Little did I know the friends I would make and the prolific writing in my future! Good times, good times. :)

I don't know if I'll come up with something for the anniversary, but I wanted to acknowledge it to all my friends here on my f-list, and who have stuck around when a lot of people took off for shinier baubles platforms. A big THANK YOU to all the people who have encouraged me during low points, celebrated with me in good times, and helped me with gifting me with paid accounts and extra icon userpics, which has really made life here more fun. :)

I've had a great time reading, writing, and hosting my Challenges over the years, too. The 2016 DCU Fic/Art Halloween Challenge is my next-to-last Challenge, as I'm seriously considering doing something special for Wonder Woman next year to commemorate her first ever live-action movie. That will be my grand final Challenge and how better to do it than with one of my all-time favorite characters? :) I'm pretty proud of the many Challenges I've hosted (Complete List here) and another big THANK YOU to all who contributed during these past ten years.

It's been a rainy morning with plenty of fog, but we need the rain after a summer of drought. The leaves are turning bright colors and my sister and I are going to the orchard tomorrow to get fresh apples (can't get any fresher!). Life is good. Enjoy your weekend, my friends! :)

Hi, luvs! Happy Valentine's Day! Love you all! :)

Today, of course you should send love to the people you care about, but give yourself a little love, too. We all are too hard on ourselves sometimes. Take a look at a story you wrote and say to yourself, "You know, that isn't half-bad." Same for art or anything else creative that you do.

I'm giving myself the gift of luxury of time today. No chores, just fun. I plan on attending a little Valentine get-together later and tomorrow is when I change decorations for St. Patrick's Day and spring. Decorations as in decorative figurines, stuff to hang on the walls, etc.

My mother was big on holidays and we always celebrated each one. She did extra for Halloween and Christmas (and even had a couple of ceramic turkeys for Thanksgiving!) but even smaller holidays like Valentine's Day saw ceramic angels with hand-painted hearts on their clothes and pretty stuff like a heart-shaped music box get center stage.

My dad was a smart man. He was always prepared every Valentine's Day with a big box of chocolates, red roses, and a nice card. He got little boxes of chocolates for my sister and me, too. :)

So have a great day! We are preparing for another blizzard here starting tonight. Situation normal. ;)

Hi, luvs!

Since it's getting closer to summer, I thought I'd post this link to the Boothbay Lobster Wharf. Whenever we were in Boothbay on vacation, my family would always visit this place. It was known as The Lobstermen's Co-Op back then, and they've made a lot of changes since our last visit 13 years ago, but the basics are the same: fresh seafood right off the boat in a harbor setting. :) And if you get a craving for lobster, they ship anywhere! :)

Hi, luvs! I'll be posting more zines for sale soon. I hope you'll be able to find something to your liking. It'll help a fellow fan who could use the money for upcoming expenses and it'll help not to lug a lot of heavy boxes around, too.

The House Project has been very difficult for me lately. Every time I turn around it's like something else is gone. It's hard to see the pieces of my parents' lives thrown in the dumpster, and some pieces of mine, too. I just learned that a set of old newspapers with some important family history was thrown out. Honest-to-Goddess, I can't be everywhere! The people are here to help out but right now I feel like yelling at them to get out and leave me alone and STOP TAKING MY STUFF! A beautiful grandfather clock was claimed and I would have liked to have kept it at least until I left but, no, my wishes aren't worth much. I don't care about fucking downsizing or anything else, I'm just tired of sorting, organizing, dumping and what-have-you. I'm angry, upset and hurt right now, and to top it off, I checked my profile and my icon package is going to expire, so the one place where I feel that I have some control and joy is going to be less joyful with the loss of most of my icons! *shrugs* When does it all end?

I know it sounds like a little kid complaining but this is my life and my parents' lives. I hate the necessity and if I hear one more time that it's the memory and not the item that's important, I'll hit someone. The newspapers were FAMILY HISTORY, damnit! Stop judging things hings just because they're yellowing and aged as to what they're worth. I'm heartsick. Maybe I'm just a sentimental fool. I don't know anymore.

Please consider the zines I'll be posting. I could use the help. Thank you.

Under The Christmas Tree (Tied Up With A Big, Red Bow), a Mel/Johnny story of yearning and bittersweet goodness with a touch of crack

The Prince And The Reporter I: Gift, Unwrapped, an alternate universe in which Thomas and Martha Wayne were not killed in Crime Alley, and Clark Kent meets a different Bruce Wayne from the one we know…or is he really?
