Author sign--ups are now open at DCU-Bang and Marvel_Bang. I think I'll pass this year, the first time since 2011 that I won't have a Big Bang on my plate, but I'm pretty busy with my Bruce/Dick Bingo Card, anyway. So far, out of 9 squares I have 3 filled/posted, 2 in the queue to be posted, writing No. 6, ideas for No. 7 and 8, and no idea for No. 9. :)

I'm hoping to get back to some of my Han/Luke stuff again, and am pleased to see that METV will be airing the original Battlestar Galactica starting June 3rd. Could be some fresh inspiration there! I've got a few Clark/Bruce stories in mind, too.

Hmm, looks like DC is taking up my time, but I'm sure Marvel will sneak in there, too. Some Steve/Bucky? A little Natasha/Pepper? ;)

Stay tuned!

Creative Energy!!!

bradygirl_12: (han--luke (sickbay))
I woke up this morning with a lot of creative energy, so I got down to work right away after my walk to take advantage of it before it disappeared! :)

I FINALLY broke the logjam in my profic, which has been sitting around for a couple of months. I couldn't even force myself to write a sentence a day on it because I was completely stymied on the direction I wanted it to go. Now I've been busy writing all morning, yay, me! :)

I also got going again on my [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang story and am making good progress with that, as well as a Han/Luke story that was stalled forever. I also have a short Han/Luke idea that I might write soon which has been in the back of my mind for awhile.

A new Clark/Bruce idea paired with Steve/Diana could be written up soon, or at least sometime this summer. My priorities this summer have to be the profic and the [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang, but I like dashing off short pieces to keep things fresh.

The Raven And The Nightingale might end up shelved for the summer, but there's always research to do for that one that will be ready when I go back to writing it.

Who wants to see another seaside story this summer? :)

Enjoy your day, luvs! Sit on your deck or patio, listen to the birds sing, and connect with Nature. Your Muses will come back if they've stalled! :)

I signed up for the [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang! :)

Frankly, I thought I was going to bypass any Big Bang this year as I had no ideas as the sign-up dates approached. Wasn't that big a deal since I've been writing Big Bangs since 2011 and nothing was materializing for the [livejournal.com profile] dcu_bang and [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang, so I decided to see if I could get inspiration from Captain America 3: Civil War. Even after that it was sketchy but with a couple of days before sign-ups closed, I got inspiration! :)

The Raven And The Nightingale is stalled after I thought it was revving up again, but such is the way of things. I think I'll do some more research while waiting to write again. It's just too much fun to relegate to never getting out of the notebook stage. :)

I've got two birthday stories I owe and happily am working on one and have an idea for the other.

I've got some stories that are still in the notebook stage. One's a Jurassic Park tale that I wrote last year in a flurry of inspiration after seeing the first film again and those fun 'n' sexy scientists, Alan and Ian! :)

I've got a Steve/Bucky tale inspired by Age Of Ultron that's just been sitting in the Unsatisfied pile. I may try and fix that up.

And I've been editing a Clark/Bruce story told from the POV of Lois, one of my favorite things. :)

Still working on my Han/Luke comfort food fic. Comfort food: a fic that has no deadline and is generally fairly long so that I can enjoy the writing with no pressure. Even my own Challenges and Big Bangs have slight pressure. You have to work on a deadline fic while comfort food is worked on when hungry, er, in the mood. :)

I might even take a crack at the [livejournal.com profile] clexmas Spring Fling! Reverse Bang. I hadn't intended to but the art submissions are pretty intriguing, so who knows? That's in the 'Maybe' queue. :)

So it looks like my [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang story will be a summer project. Maybe I can spin a few seaside tales this summer, too. :)

Han spotted Luke almost immediately. The slender figure in Jedi robes was standing by the edge of the cliff with arms folded, staring out at the ocean. His face was shadowed by his hood. )

He was falling, falling, falling, into a despairing abyss. Icy jets of air touched his skin and tore a gasp from him as the pain of first frost hit before the numbness spread throughout his body. )

I went with my sister to see Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens yesterday, and here’s my review. If you don’t want a review with spoilers, skip reading behind the cut.

I had no expectations of this film. Did it live up to the hype? Of course not! No film could, but it wasn’t a bomb, either.

I give this film a solid B, and would be tempted to bump it up to a B+ because of the shining presence of Harrison Ford as Han Solo. :)

Was I entertained? Yes.

Was I disappointed? Yes.

MAJOR spoilers )

For those wanting my recommendation without spoilers, if you’re a Star Wars fan, go see this film. If you’re a Han Solo fan, definitely go see this film. There is new stuff mixed with old (a little too much repeating of Episode IV, IMO) but this movie is a darned sight better than the prequel trilogy.
bradygirl_12: (han--luke (sickbay))
Yes, my friends, the Force is with us today! :)

I plan on going to see the movie next week. Too crowded this weekend and showings are all sold out, anyway. I think if it's really good, I may get a creative jump-start to go back to writing Han/Luke fic again. Why when they probably won't be in the new movie very much? The universe of Star Wars will be the inspiration. And who knows? I might find some inspiration in this new film just for itself! But I have a Han/Luke idea I'd like to tackle. It was a story submitted to a zine years ago but the zine never happened. I don't have my original manuscript anymore but the basic essence of the plot is in my head. It could probably do with a rewrite, anyway. :)

Any Han/Luke fans out there?

I thought The Big Bang Theory was hilarious last night. Oh, well, Amy, at least Sheldon isn't saying once every seven years like his idol, Mr. Spock! ;)

Enjoy the day, my friends, and SPOILERS BEHIND A CUT! ;)

Well, I’ve got some writing goals for the remainder of 2010. My writing, which had been in a slump for a couple of months, is now re-energized by Halloween Muses! ;) Also by my offering of fic for my Fourth LJ Anniversary. Some great prompts there!
