D-Day

Today is the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the invasion of Normandy by the Allies against Nazi Germany in World War II. It came at a horrific cost but the people there still remember, and we should, too. Many Americans, British, Canadian and French soldiers lost their lives that day or were haunted forever by what happened.

World War II is edging closer to a Civil War status. The photos and films are usually sepia-tinted and the survivors are dwindling at a rapid rate every day. By the time the 80th anniversary rolls around, there won't be many veterans left. Someday we'll hear the story in the news of the last World War II veteran passing away.

Hi, luvs!

I have several boxes of comics I'm planning to sell in the near future. Have any of you sold comics? If so, how did you go about it? I know Ebay is a resource but I can't afford the fees nor do I have a scanner to put up pictures, so that's out. Is the local comic shop a good place to go, or will they severely under-price my collection? Have you sold on-line in places like [livejournal.com profile] dusty_corners? I am thinking of buying the Overstreet Comics Guide for prices, and to try and evaluate the condition of the books. Some books are from the '70s and others from the '80s. They are mostly DC, but I have some Marvel and Archies and a few other randoms.

Does Heritage Auctions look legit or is on the scam side? It's tough to know who to trust.

Anyway, any advice you can give me is welcome! I'll be selling more zines soon, too. I want to clear out as many boxes as I can in the coming months. Thanks!

Hi, luvs!

Since it's getting closer to summer, I thought I'd post this link to the Boothbay Lobster Wharf. Whenever we were in Boothbay on vacation, my family would always visit this place. It was known as The Lobstermen's Co-Op back then, and they've made a lot of changes since our last visit 13 years ago, but the basics are the same: fresh seafood right off the boat in a harbor setting. :) And if you get a craving for lobster, they ship anywhere! :)
