Week 6: New England Patriots 31, Cleveland Browns 15 (Sunday, October 16, 2022)

Quite the entertaining game! Lots of turnovers by both sides, but the Patriots were good enough to overcome their share. Back-up QB Bailey Zappe looked pretty good, throwing for over 300 yards and 2 touchdowns. The defense managed to make takeaways, and except for a slight glitch, special teams were good, too. The Patriots seem to be improving, but still too many penalties. You can bet that Coach Belichick is letting them know his displeasure.

Is there a quarterback controversy? Not yet, but it could come soon if Zappe keeps lookin' good! Mac Jones must be getting nervous. :)

Pats, Bills and Jets won, Dolphins lost. Next week, da Bears come to Foxboro!

It's unnatural that the Jets are above the Patriots in the standings. ;)

AFC EAST

BUFF 5-1

NYJ 4-2

Author's Notes: Lest you think I went a little overboard with McHale calling Virgil 'honey' (Chapter 2), it's canon, folks! Yep, said by the Skipper to Virgil in 3 Girls On An Island (1x08) (4:52). Sure, could be said to be a joking tone, though it sounded pretty matter-of-fact to me. ;) I was surprised the line made it past the censors, though maybe it didn't. When I started watching the show, it had been in syndication for years, and I'm sure even as a grade-schooler I would have remembered one guy calling another guy 'honey', joking or not. Anyway, glad to hear it! :)
The title of this story is similar to one of the two Twilight Zone episodes in which Edson Stroll (who played Virgil) guest-starred: The Trade-Ins (3x31). The other episode was Eye Of The Beholder (2x06).
The entire series can be found here.
Virgil put the greens into a basket and he walked around the supply hut on his way to the galley. He stopped short as he almost bumped into Urulu. )

Color is exploding all over! :)

It's not peak color yet, which makes it a little later this year, but it's definitely in the works. When you're surrounded by a blaze of autumn color, you feel like you're in another world: fiery red, brilliant yellow, blazing orange. All gorgeous, all around. The ash trees are nearly done (always early turners) but now the red maples and sassafras and everything but the sugar maples are giving us a show. The sugar maples are the last act and are as golden as King Solomon's mines.

I'm also happy to be going at a good pace with my multichaptered The Alienist/Murdoch Mysteries Halloween fic, Mr. & Mrs. John Moore (aka Sara Howard Moore) VIII: Beaded Pearls. Three chapters up, seven to go!

Also working on a spooky McHale's Navy fic, which is not part of the Sparkling Stars 'verse. I had the premise but was stymied by what would be the events of the actual plot, but it seems to be coming along. *dances* Hope you're enjoying autumn! :)
