I have to say I'm a little surprised that Alfred hadn't already said something to Bruce about this being Dick's first Thanksgiving in his new family.

Ah, but it was early in the week. I wouldn't be surprised if Alfred would have mentioned something if Bruce hadn't found Dick crying.
