Some of the journals I have read from my family have been from that time period. There is a story that was written about when Harriet Breecher Stowe had breakfast with the family! The story doesn't mention much about her actually. It just mentions that she was there. It was the Sabbath and someone had forgotten to grind the coffee. So the story is about how two of the daughters secretly ground the coffee. It is kind of a silly story, but apparently because of this lunch they named one of their daughters Harriet! And later Harriet's niece named her daughter Harriet because her Aunt was the nicest lady she ever met. That Harriet was a cousin of my Grandma's. So it's interesting that she was sort of named after Harriet Breecher Stowe.

I also was able to read a journal about Robert Hall Griffin when he was in the war. He mainly talks about morally and how he can't wait to get the mail. There are also some letters between him and his wife and two sons. It was sad in a few entries he learned from the other men that some of the children in their town had become ill and died. He was really worried about his little son! Which was a found worry. So that was very interesting that even in the war he was worried about his family.

So reading this story made me think about those two family histories. It was unique and refreshing. Of course, I loved the Clex in the story too!
