I just got back from viewing Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Spoilers behind the cut.

Let me sharpen my skewer to shish-kebab this steroid-infused side of beef )

Here is my spoiler-free recommendation. I recommend seeing this film in a first-run theater if you:

Don’t want to be spoiled.

Enjoy the historic importance of Superman and Batman meeting for the very first time in a big-screen live-action film.

Enjoy the historic importance of seeing Wonder Woman in a big-screen live-action film for the first time evah!

Enjoy the historic importance of seeing DC’s Trinity all on screen together in a big-screen live-action film for the first time.

Enjoy seeing Batman and Superman beat each other to a pulp like two idiots on the local playground.

If none of the above applies to you, then wait to see this on Netflix, or if your first-run theater has a Bargain Day (I did that today), or the movie ends up at a bargain movie theater in a couple of months.

Letter grade: C+. The ‘+’ is all for Wonder Woman, otherwise this would be C-.

Stars: 3 out of 5. 1 star is all for Wonder Woman, otherwise it would be 2 out of 5.

I guess it’s the squandered potential that gets me, but what can you expect from a man (Zack Snyder) who is inspired by Frank Miller? Miller, the guy who made Batman a psychotic who kidnapped Dick Grayson after his parents' deaths and forced him to sleep in the Cave and eat rats, and later Miller character-assassinated poor Dick in a way that I can’t even wrap my head around.

Miller, who made Superman a spineless Government stooge, Diana a vicious man-hater who called men sperm receptacles, made the rest of the JLA idiots and buffoons, and made Black Canary immediately have sex with the Bat-God upon their first meeting. So I guess we were spared most of that, except for the Bat-God beating up Superman. Boy, I wanted Clark to give Bruce a good shot!

I don’t know how many fanworks will come out of this movie. I’ll bet money that it won’t be on par with the first Avengers movie or Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier.

*puts away skewer for now*

Okay, Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is finally here! I plan on going next week on Bargain Day to see this foundation of the DCCU. I chose a profile icon to celebrate Clark and Bruce, even though they probably won't say a civil word to each other in the entire movie. I'll probably replace it with a Wonder Woman icon soon, as she is emerging as the best thing in this film. Wouldn't it be a kick if a Wondy movie actually saved DC's bacon after they took 76 years to present her on the big screen in a live-action flick?

I won't be reading any reviews until Tuesday, but go ahead and write them! I plan on checking back after I've written my own. Hopefully this movie will be better than we think. Huzzah for the World's Finest! :)

In honor of our boys, take a walk down Memory Lane or enjoy the fun for the first time with World's Finest #289. It's canon, folks! ;)

Yikes!

Early reviews for Batman vs. Superman are mostly negative: dark, violent and ultimately boring, with Wonder Woman the best part of the film, according to the critics.

I'll let you know my opinion after I see it next Tuesday. Maybe the critics are wrong, but I'll give you a complete rundown when I get back. It doesn't even disturb me about the reviews since I half-expected it. A movie due out in July of 2015 pushed back to May of 2016, then changed to March because the studio doesn't want to go head-to-head with Captain America 3: Civil War kinda gives you a hint, along with the trailers looking like they were filmed during an eclipse, everything's so dark. *squints*

The World War II episodes of the classic Wonder Woman series is starting their cycle again on ME TV tonight at 8:00 EST. I'm not a big fan of when the series updated itself to the then-contemporary 1970s, as I thought that a lot of what made Diana special was lost, and she became a generic agent. The Pilot and first 13 episodes did a lot of things right, and each one is a little gem. :)

Tonight, Wonder Woman goes up against Baroness Von Gunther!

April looked like it might be the first month with no posts but every time it appears so, I manage to get at least one story in! :)

Diana enjoyed what Etta called ‘color’. Soaking up the sights and sounds of American culture, she was delighted with the newness. She had been in America for several months now, but there was still so much to learn. )

Hi, luvs!

I haven’t done one of these ficcish updates in awhile because, frankly, there hasn’t been much going on, but things are stirring now so I thought I’d post. It helps me keep my thoughts organized and there are some people who find these kinds of posts interesting! :)

Ack, keep forgetting to do this! Have two more entries to go. :)

1) Still basking in the afterglow of the Patriots' Super Bowl victory. There was a lot of disappointment since the last time the Lombardi Trophy was hoisted, so it's all good now. :)

2) ESPN's big breaking story from last night about a Patriots locker room attendant possibly doing nefarious things was refuted by another ESPN reporter, Adam Schefter, as attendant Jim McNally was given the 'unapproved' football he tried to give to an alternate official BY NFL OFFICIALS, one of whom has since been fired for stealing the balls that were earmarked for charity. Oh, yeah, they got the Patriots dead-to-rights on that one! ;)

3) I got a yummy meal at the deli: a toasted marinated chicken grinder with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions and mustard and spicy fries. :)

4) The first season of the Wonder Woman TV series is cycling through. This season just gives me pure joy watching it. Sure, I know it has flaws, but shouldn't you have a show that just gives you joy? The later seasons was more generic superhero. The first season focused on what made Diana special. It also had the Diana/Steve romance, which always is a plus in my book! :)

Hola, my friends!

Are you looking to clean out your fannish clutter? No longer interested in watching a DVD but want it to go to a good home?

I’m looking for the Complete First Season of Wonder Woman (‘70s TV show) starring Lynda Carter. It’s the best of the seasons, IMO, set during World War II. If you have the DVD and are no longer interested in keeping it, I’ll happily take it. I can offer a ficlet about our Amazing Amazon in gratitude.

If you can help me out, please contact me through jeanniemarie@sprintmail.com for my mailing address. Thank you kindly!

Hola, my friends!

Wonder Woman joins the SciFi Saturday Night Line-Up on ME TV starting this Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 8:00 EST. If they don't change the rest of the schedule, she'll be following Batman and preceding Star Trek. :)

First, though, ME TV is showing the pilot episode on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 8:00 EST. If you haven't seen it in a long time or have never seen it, why not pencil this into your viewing schedule? :)

The show stars Lynda Carter and is the only live-action adaptation that our Amazing Amazon has appeared in in her 72 years. Debuting as 'Women's Lib' was bursting onto the national scene, the show trumpets sisterhood and womanhood in an earnest and charming '70s way, especially the first season that is set during World War II.

OMIGOSH, THE AVENGERS MOVIE IS FANTASTIC!!!

I went to see the movie as a treat for myself after so many worries lately and thoroughly enjoyed it! Lots to talk about and oodles of spoilers, so be warned!

Here be my Midgardian Review )

I just hope that The Dark Knight Rises can compete with this film. The Avengers are smashing box office records like the Hulk. Marvel put in a long-term plan which is coming to full fruition with its mega-opening last weekend. They carefully cultivated a series of films showcasing their heroes and culminated in this Avengers extravaganza.

What has DC done in the past four year? Released the highly successful The Dark Knight but also Jonah Hex and Green Lantern. Real box office winners there, folks! They had a Justice League movie planned but felt that people would be too confused if they included Superman and Batman and if the ‘verse ended up different from their films. I can’t help but wonder if Christopher Nolan’s ridiculous insistence that Batman is the only hero nixed the JLA idea and any connection of DC heroes. I suppose Green Lantern never mentioned any other heroes, and Man Of Steel won’t. Marvel treated its Trinity of Captain America, Iron Man and Thor with respect. While DC will always green-light Superman and Batman, Wonder Woman will never get a movie. I suppose DC considers her out and Green Lantern in when it comes to the Trinity now. *shakes fist at DC and Warner Brothers*

I highly recommend seeing The Avengers (They are already green-lighted for the sequel, which isn’t surprising when you look at the box office numbers). Chris Evans said that originally they wanted him to sign for nine movies but reduced it to six. I assume that means movies with one hero mixed in with multi-hero Avengers films. You know, actually acknowledging that other heroes exist! What a concept!

Every day Bruce made his way out to the gazebo, listening to the ocean down below and the whisper of the last leaves as they fell from the trees. He had missed the glorious colors of autumn, but Clark had described them in loving detail. )

Bruce awoke, smiling as he registered the warm body curled up next to him. He let his senses absorb the heat that always radiated off Clark. He smelled like sunshine, Bruce’s smile widening at his whimsical turn of phrase. Who would have guessed that he had poetry in his soul? )

Hi, luvs! The day after Halloween is always a little sad, isn't it? The decorations look a little wilted and shabby in the light of day, and the frost is on the pumpkin. Literally here in the Northeast after that monster storm Saturday!

Challenge reminders: the 2011 DCU Fic/Art Halloween Challenge is open 'til November 30th, so if you have something that you weren't quite able to post before the holiday, here's your chance! :)

I'm very pleased with the success of this Challenge! Thanks to all who participated! :)

Also, only two months left for the 2011 Wonder Woman Love Fic/Art 70th Anniversary Celebration Challenge. We've had some quality contributions but I'm a little disappointed that this year-long Challenge didn't generate more entries. But there's still time if you want to honor the Amazing Amazon!

Speaking of Challenges, I usually have one for the Winter Holidays up by now and November 1st as the start date but was so bizzy with Big Bangs and other projects that I never got to it. How about it? You guys interested in a BradyGirl_12-style Winter Holidays Challenge?

You know, the more I think about this reboot, the rage increases! I stopped caring about canon eons ago, but this...this...the 'new emphasis' for Superman takes the CORE ESSENCE of the character and twists it. The GENIUS of his origin is being despoiled! *shakes fist at DC*

Bruce's core essence remains the same, Clark's is completely changed, and Diana? She's always messed with by DC, so that's nothing new.

*scatters rose petals at the feet of the Goddess of Fanfic*

How ironic is it that Smallville is now more true to the character's essence than the new canon will be in the fall?

Oh, well, what can I expect from a company when, back in the '80s, when a writer asked Editorial if he could write Barbara as shot in The Killing Joke, the reply was, "Sure, cripple the bitch."

Hi, luvs! Man, I can’t believe that there’s only FOUR chapters left to Rainbow’s Freedom Arc 7! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for the final arc, too. ;)

Argh! Talk me out of taking prompts for summerfic, willya? Like I don’t have enough to do! ;)

Hey, the Smallville Big Bang is coming along nicely! It’s beginning to even spook me a little! ;)

I have a plot for the Clark/Bruce Big Bang if it’s held after all! It’s perfect! It will easily go 10,000 words, I know that.

How about something sappy for the 2011 DCU Fic/Art Steve/Diana Challenge? ;)

Oh, yeah, you’ll be seeing some new Clex from me soon for my [livejournal.com profile] clexmas Bingo Card!

I’m still letting my thoughts simmer for my [livejournal.com profile] helpthesouth fic. It’s a great ‘verse to play in!

Finally, how do you like my new icon? [livejournal.com profile] ctbn60 made it for me from The Brave And The Bold episode which featured our Amazing Amazon in the teaser (along with a certain blond boyfriend)! Isn’t she fantastic? And gorgeous, too!
