Sixty-two years ago today, the Korean War began.
Please take the time to remember the soldiers who fought and died
And the veterans who are elderly now and still suffering.
Please remember the Koreans who suffered during the war
And the families still torn apart after all these decades.
Don't forget the Forgotten War.

Dad's been gone sixteen years now, and it still seems like yesterday.

I've been looking through his discharge papers, too. My sister and I want to apply for an official Government plaque for his grave. He was in the Reserves until the early '60s. We were very lucky that a trained combat infantryman (later trained paratrooper) wasn't called up in those early days, but if he had still been in the Reserves by '65, he might have been as the numbers of U.S. military in Vietnam took a huge spike that year.
Heh, we get the opposite when we travel in the South. My family have the typical New England accent. ;)
Yesterday was Dad's birthday. I think of him and Mom a lot.

Dad's birthday is International Talk LIke a Pirate Day. I think it would have amused him.

So Dad would have been at a good age to get the call-up, though he was married by then and with two kids.
My dad's birthday is Jean de Baptiste Day in Montreal. :)
