Week 11: Carolina Panthers 24, New England Patriots 20 (7-3) (Monday, November 18, 2013)
Well, the Patriots really got screwed this time.
They messed up in the first half but the opportunity to win the game at the end was once again taken away from them. The back judge threw the flag and called pass interference but the referee comes in and picks up the flag and says no foul. That’s bogus! The reason that Gronk had no chance to make it a catchable ball was because he was being bear-hugged by a Carolina DB who wasn’t playing the ball at all. NFL experts, former players and a former Super Bowl coach like Jon Gruden said that it was pass interference. What’s almost worse is the cover-up by the NFL. Just admit the officials made a mistake!
Tom played well but some other players had a rough first half: Aqib Talib and Logan Mankins committed stupid penalties and Stevan Ridley fumbled the ball. The guy’s a talented back but he’s got fumbleitis.
The Pats face the Broncos next Sunday on national TV and if they lose that game, they’ll be sinking in the playoff seedings.
Last week the Pats and Jets had a bye.
This week’s AFC East standings:
NE 7-3
Miami 5-5
NYJ 5-5
BUFF 4-7
