Thank you!

A very generous donor gifted me with DW points to allow me to access a big bunch of my icons again! The access will last through Valentine's Day, and expect to see Halloween and Christmas icons used, too, tee hee. Gotta use 'em while I can. I am SO HAPPY!!! :D

Happy Halloween, everyone! πŸŽƒ

I did post a Halloween story. Even if you're not familiar with the fandom (McHale's Navy) you still might enjoy this spooky tale: The Twilight Zone IV: The Invasion Of McHale's Island. There is some slash but not the focus of the story. However, if you enjoy some light canoodling and protectiveness interspersed with danger, this is the story for you. πŸ‘»

Wow, it's already Christmas Week! Remember when you were a kid? Christmas seemed to take FOREVER to come, and Christmas Eve was the longest night of the year as you waited for Santa. Now as an adult, you turn around and say, :Is it Christmas ALREADY? :)

Heh, I'm close to posting the last chapter of my Halloween fic, might be able to get my Yule fic posted on time, still have a Christmas story to start...feeling very creative. Are the holidays inspiring you?

Hi, luvs!

Time for a little fanfic update. I managed to post the final chapter of one of my Halloween-inspired stories on the last day of November. The other story has two chapters to go before completion.

I was happy to write and post a Thanksgiving story before the holiday, and did get a Christmas idea, which I'm working on now. Another Christmas idea is just a glimmer right now, so we'll see how that goes. I also have two first drafts of more McHale's Navy slavefic, so that should keep me busy in between holiday stories. I also have a new Halloween idea which is just another glimmer. Lots of time to work on that one! :)

Hope your writing is going well and that you didn't overload on gift exchanges and such. The holidays and writing should be fun, not stressful! :)

What is this this, you say? Why, 'tis Halloween in November! Or, how my Muses insist on sticking with that holiday. :D

You know the old saying you don't want to know how the sausage is made? Well, I feel the same way about looking at the creative process too carefully, yet it's fun to dig at least a little bit.

Why are my Muses intent on working on Halloween-themed fic during the holiday season (notice I refer to them in the plural as no single Muse could cause all this trouble!)? Could be because I started posting chapters of one fic before the holiday and started posting the chapters of the second one only a few days after All Hallows. I thought I was completely barren of other holiday ideas, but an idea popped up a week before Thanksgiving. It's a Clark/Bruce tale if you're interested.

So I will continue working on Halloween fic until another holiday provides inspiration. Actually, my contratrian Muses are teasing another Halloween idea. Oh, well, I can dig spooky stuff any time of year! :)

Ah, Thanksgiving Week! Here in the U.S. it can be one of two things: crazy bizzy if you're the one hosting the big feast, or pretty peacefuk if you're not. The Christmas frenzy may have already begun for you. My tree is up, decorations will go up this weekend, and there are still presents to be bought and cards to be sent.

Fandom-wise, I managed to post 4 out of 10 chapters by Halloween of one of my Halloween stories, and now have 7/10 chapters up. Another spooky story had the first of three chapters go up (now 2/3) a few days after the holiday, but I did manage a naughty Natasha/Pepper story that started out as horror and got tangled up with some light BDSM. Muses, amirite?

I had zero ideas for Thanjsgiving stories until a Clark/Bruce ficlet popped into my head, and I hope to have that posted by Turkey Day. No ideas fpr Yule/Christmas/New Year;s at the moment.

Hope you can take a breath before the holiday craziness begins! :)

Hi, luvs! Just a couple of spooky recs. They're from McHale's Navy (1962-1966) fandom. You need not be familiar with the series to enjoy these episodes. I just couldn't resist sharing spooky goodness! :) The show's a comedy so nothing shocking here.

The Ghosts Of 73 (3x01): The 73 stands for PT-73, a motor torpedo boat. This episode feautures some really outstanding make-up and sound for the horror effects.

The Vampire Of Taratupa (3x33): Campy fun with the Universal monsters. The Munsters and The Addams Family were currently on the network schedules, possibly inspiring this fun episode. :)

Well, the writing life always has twists and turns. I was working on my Halloween-inspired story Monday night while listening to the Patriots game and realized that the story would be better served by breaking it up into chapters. Thematically, there are pretty distinct sections. It just developed as I went along.

The characters (or maybe it's the haunted boat) is pulling things their way. I had another idea, or rather, a different tone envisioned for this story, and yikes! That spooky thing that fictional characters do kicked in. I want to write it one way but I'm being firmly directed another way.

I thought I was the only person that happened to, but then when I attended my first MediaWest^ Con years ago, I found out other writers experienced the same thing! So I wasn't crazy! :)

With the chapters development, I may get at least Chapter 1 posted by Halloween.

Why I am I excited?

1) It's fall-like weather!

2) My birthday's in a couple of weeks (September 27th)!

3) Halloween is coming!

4) I've got Halloween fic ideas!

*rubs hands gleefully*

Okay, my icons won't reflect the holiday (I'm flat broke and can't renew 'em), but words will paint my pictures. :) I've got a McHale's Navy idea inspired by an episode of the series and is the fandom that is currently powering my Muses (Yay, Youtube!), and haunting thoughts came upon me, tee hee. It's not my Sparkling Stars series, but slavefic can be haunting enough on its own.

Then I've got an The Alienist story that I started right after last Halloween and finished last spring, Technically it's not Halloween as it takes place a few weeks later but ties into the previous story that was Halloween and involves spooks and a haunted hause, so close enough! :)

Hope the spooky holiday to come is inspiring you! :)

Week 8: New England Patriots 27, Los Angeles Chargers 24 (4-4) (Sunday, October 31, 2021)

After last week's 50-burger, this week was a treat with a few tricks thrown in. ;)

The Patriots did make some mistakes (fumbles are killers), but also played well enough to beat a better team on the road. Special teams were really outstanding with sure kicks by Nick Folk and stellar runbacks by Gunner Olszewski. The Patriots are now a .500 team with half the season to go and they are showing promise. Not bad with a rookie under center.

The Pats, Jets and Bills won while the Dolphins lost.

Next week the team journeys to Carolina.

It's Halloween Week!!! :)

Fitting Halloween weather, as the Munsters and Addams Family would say, as it'll be raining all week. We are at peak color now, delayed because of our very rainy summer.

Last month my sister treated me to lunch on my birthday at an Italian restaurant I'd never been to before. We both enjoyed baked haddock, my sister ordering green beans and I sampled the linguine. *mmwa* Also great homemade bread.

We topped it off by going next door to the Italian bakery and buying chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. Oh, my, heaven! :)

Oh, the golden days of fall! :)

Hey, it's a rare occurrence: a full moon on Halloween!

There have been full moons in recent decades but the last time it could be seen across the U.S.? 1944! Yep, Allied troops were racing toward Germany (unfortunately temporarily derailed by the Battle of the Bulge starting on December 16th) and grinding through the South Pacific (the horrendous Battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa yet to come), and now we here in the U.S. can see it during a pandemic. I'm not sure what that means!

Happy Halloween to all!

May your day and night be magical! :)

Remember my rant about It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown being yanked from broadcast TV and ending up on Apple+'s streaming service? Well, we're not the only ones unhappy with the change:

It's Halloween Week!!! :)

Yes, it's the best time of year. The colors of the trees around here are at their peak, brilliant yellows, oranges and reds, and the harvest of pumpkins and gourds are bountiful. The weather is cool and they are predicting snow showers on Friday!

My sister and I went to the apple orchard the Saturday before last and picked up fresh apples, an apple pie, and giant cookies. I got peanut butter for the cookie. :)

We went to The Old Mill again and she had a big Caesar salad while I had pot roast, red bliss potatoes, and we shared boneless Buffalo wings for an appetizer. We also shared lemon meringue pie for dessert. Yum! :)

The ducks were gliding along the pond and the mini waterfall was gushing after recent rains. It was beautiful as usual. Ironically, it had been years between visits to this restaurant on my birthday last month, and now it was only a matter of weeks between that visit and this one. Ha, life is funny!

The IonPlus Channel is presenting spooky episodes of Murdoch Mysteries on Halloween from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. They do spooky very well! :)

Enjoy the week, folks!

Well, I just found out yesterday that It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! won't be on broadcast TV anymore. It's moved to Apple+, a streaming service. Same for A Charlie Brown Christmas.

I don't like it. The airing of these specials gives you a communal feeling. Streaming is a niche. I don't care if they're offering it free for a few days. A lot of people are going to miss out.

One thing about the days of the Big Three networks? What they showed was free, and usually accessible, as eventually everyone ended up owning a TV, especially as prices went down. Now you pay for cable and, in addition, streaming services.

Did you ever own a DVD or DVR something but come across that show or movie when channel-surfing, and you decide to watch it, anyway? Because you know other people are watching it at the same time, not just you as with a DVD/DVR.

It's our human need for connection. That's why if movie theaters go the way of the dinosaur, it'll be a sad thing. Despite the overpriced tickets and concessions, it's still a communal experience. Huh, I'm an introvert and I'm pushing for communal experiences! 2020 is defintely a weird year.

Goodbye, 54 years of tradition! >:(
