Remember my rant about It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown being yanked from broadcast TV and ending up on Apple+'s streaming service? Well, we're not the only ones unhappy with the change:

It's Halloween Week!!! :)

Yes, it's the best time of year. The colors of the trees around here are at their peak, brilliant yellows, oranges and reds, and the harvest of pumpkins and gourds are bountiful. The weather is cool and they are predicting snow showers on Friday!

My sister and I went to the apple orchard the Saturday before last and picked up fresh apples, an apple pie, and giant cookies. I got peanut butter for the cookie. :)

We went to The Old Mill again and she had a big Caesar salad while I had pot roast, red bliss potatoes, and we shared boneless Buffalo wings for an appetizer. We also shared lemon meringue pie for dessert. Yum! :)

The ducks were gliding along the pond and the mini waterfall was gushing after recent rains. It was beautiful as usual. Ironically, it had been years between visits to this restaurant on my birthday last month, and now it was only a matter of weeks between that visit and this one. Ha, life is funny!

The IonPlus Channel is presenting spooky episodes of Murdoch Mysteries on Halloween from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. They do spooky very well! :)

Enjoy the week, folks!

Well, I just found out yesterday that It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! won't be on broadcast TV anymore. It's moved to Apple+, a streaming service. Same for A Charlie Brown Christmas.

I don't like it. The airing of these specials gives you a communal feeling. Streaming is a niche. I don't care if they're offering it free for a few days. A lot of people are going to miss out.

One thing about the days of the Big Three networks? What they showed was free, and usually accessible, as eventually everyone ended up owning a TV, especially as prices went down. Now you pay for cable and, in addition, streaming services.

Did you ever own a DVD or DVR something but come across that show or movie when channel-surfing, and you decide to watch it, anyway? Because you know other people are watching it at the same time, not just you as with a DVD/DVR.

It's our human need for connection. That's why if movie theaters go the way of the dinosaur, it'll be a sad thing. Despite the overpriced tickets and concessions, it's still a communal experience. Huh, I'm an introvert and I'm pushing for communal experiences! 2020 is defintely a weird year.

Goodbye, 54 years of tradition! >:(

Autumn

Autumn has been here awhile. The days are cool and bright and the nights are cool, too. There are a few patches of color, but the trees won't give us the full show for awhile. The harvest will be bountiful (pumpkins, gourds, apples, etc.) and, of, course, Halloween will be approaching on stealthy feet. :) I'll be visiting Dunkin' Donuts for some pumpkin doughnuts and muffins, and there will be pumpkin cookies in the supermarket. Pumpkin, pumpkin, PUMPKIN!!! :)

Hope everyone is excited for fall! :)

Hi, luvs!

Halloween was a lot of fun at work this year. We all dressed up and had a party. We carved pumpkins (mine was a bat!) and ate food that the Culinary Arts students prepared while music played. I had a doughnut hole, two slices of bruschetta, and cranberries on toast. The punch was just right, not too sweet.

I wore my Ghouls' Night Out T-shirt, black pants and shoes, a purple Witch hat, black, yellow and orange beads, a Jack O'Lantern bracelet and a diamond-eyed (not real, ha!) snake bracelet. My make-up was a little wild and pictures were taken of everyone. Others dressed up as a voodoo boca, a cat, Cruella De Ville, zombies and a spiderwoman. Treats were given out (I brought some candy, too) and I probably overdosed on sugar, tee hee.

The lobby was filled with ghosts and mummies (cut-outs) and three Witches bent over a cauldron. The dolls were adorable! In my office was a ghost and a plastic Jack O'Lantern holding a wand. :)

We left all the decorations up for the rest of the week and will take them down Monday. It was a lot of fun!

After work was oohing and aahing over cute little trick-or-treaters and lighting candles for an appropriately spooky atmosphere while watching TV in-between answering the doorbell.

Hope you all had fun, too! :)

Timeless

Hi, luvs!

I'm only going by the promos, as obviously the show debuts tonight, but if you're a fan of time travel, you may want to give Timeless a look. It's on NBC tonight at 10:00 and hopefully will be a good show. :)

Fall is finally here! After an early September heat wave, we're in cooler weather now. The trees are starting to turn, and I've got my baby pumpkin and gourds decorating my place. The colors are all red, yellow, and orange with some black thrown in for Halloween! :) My sister and I will be going to the orchard in a few weeks and I might take a trip soon to Trader Joe's for some mini pumpkin pies and cookies. :)

Football is in full swing, and the real season begins for us Pats fans with the return of Tom Brady from his unjust suspension. Watch out, NFL! Could be scorched earth if we're lucky!

Have a good day and enjoy the best season of all! :)

Whoops, forgot I was doing this meme, LOL! Anyway, here are the happies for the day:

1) Color is everywhere! We're at peak color here and the trees and bushes are fantastic.

2) I bought a pumpkin to use in the building's pumpkin decorating contest. I might go with a Mr. Spock theme, not sure yet. :)

3) I got directions on where to vote. It'll be my first time at this polling place and the website's directions were awful. I asked the building manager and he was able to give me excellent directions. I like competent people!

It's been a glorious day! :)

1) Dunkin' Donuts has pumpkin everything back! :) I went out this morning and bought a pumpkin muffin and pumpkin pie doughnut. The doughnut's gone. ;)

2) My sister is helping a friend out with a yard sale. We had a ginormous one last year before the move. This time she's not in charge, just one of the staff. :)

3) I've been watching the Ken Burns documentary, The Roosevelts: An Intimate History and plan to see the finale tonight. I've studied that era of the New Deal so I know a lot of the facts/events but I'm seeing new photographs and newsreels. I enjoy immersing myself in another time. The Great Depression was terrible, but the energy that the New Deal generated to combat it was exciting. And the coming war certainly taxed FDR's considerable political skills! Anyway, great stuff. :)

4: One more: watching The Adventures Of Superman. It's from the black-and-white first season with Phyllis Coates instead of Noel Neill as Lois. Apparently Phyllis came across as 'too tough' and so they replaced her with Noel. I like her and she was tough, too, but they considered her more 'feminine'. Sheesh!

It's Halloween Week!!! *squees*

Man, the energy is just swirling around like the leaves! It's a gorgeous fall day, all golden and orange and crimson, and the weather is just right: cool enough to wear a jacket but not uncomfortable. Crisp air and the bounty of the harvest ready to be enjoyed.

A few weeks ago I went to the local farm stand and bought a baby pumpkin and gourds, all colorful as the leaves were all bright around me. There were giant gourds shaped like swans and other interesting shapes. :) Big pumpkins and little ones. Colorful Indian corn. Mums of red, orange, and yellow!

Houses are decorated on the street, some with autumn themes of cornstalks and scarecrows and pumpkins while others are spooky Halloween themes, complete with grinning Jack O'Lanterns and pumpkin lights! ;) One house has an inflatable Haunted House on their front lawn, LOL!

This is the week I usually see a flurry of submissions for my current Halloween Challenge, and while I may just be whistling past the graveyard this year, I bet something pops up in the trick-or-treat bag! *dances*

I've got a Witch cut-out on my front door and a vampire on the back. Lots of decorations and I have to get my plastic Jack O'Lantern handy and filled with candy! ;)

So get ready, boys and ghouls, for the magic in the air of the Night of Nights and the costumes of the kiddies as they shuffle through the fallen leaves up to the door and yell, "Trick-or-treat!" and the adults party hearty in full costume! :)
