Thank you!

A very generous donor gifted me with DW points to allow me to access a big bunch of my icons again! The access will last through Valentine's Day, and expect to see Halloween and Christmas icons used, too, tee hee. Gotta use 'em while I can. I am SO HAPPY!!! :D

I'm Back!!!

bradygirl_12: (great pumpkin (lucy--snoopy))

Okay, you may have noticed (or not, tee hee) that I've been quiet the last few weeks. My Internet service became sporadic. I've got it back with some finagling, and not sure how much it'll work. Anyway, don't be surprised to see stories posted again or other things. I'm going to zip along fannish-wise because who knows how long I'll have? Have a great day! :)
bradygirl_12: (witch (victorian))

Hey, guys, Happy Friday the 13th! :D
bradygirl_12: (cake (lemon))

I had a GREAT birthday yesterday! My sister and brother-in-law treated me to dinner at The Old Mill, a restaurant in a lovely setting. The food was fabulous. My sis and I had the grilled haddock and my bro-in-law Yankee pot roast. I also had a baked potato with light butter and we all shared Buffalo wings as an appetizer.

I also had a cool surprise: ice cream cake with real whipped cream for dessert! I got serenaded and all three of us made short work of that cake, tee hee! :)

On the way home we stopped and BunnyGirl and MooseGuy picked up pumpkins and gourds (I already had mine) but they gifted me with a baby ghost pumpkin for my birthday. :)

At home we watched the rest of the Pats-Raiders game, which was a Pats win, so yay, me! :)

After BunnyGirl and MooseGuy left I watched Tom Brady win his game with the Buccaneers, and then I tuned in Murdoch Mysteries. I'm lovin' this Victorian/Edwardian Canadian mystery show! :)

So I was a very happy camper! :)

Well, I'm really getting into the holiday spirit! I'm finally getting some ideas for holiday fic, so hopefully I can post at least a few before Yule and Christmas, though if I post in January, you can get extra holiday fic during the post-holiday blues, ha, ha!

Right now I have a Bruce/Dick story written, total fluff, that needs work, but it's coming along. And I have an idea for Golden Age Steve/Diana, and maybe some World's Finest. I also started a Natasha/Pepper story last night that might turn into something.

I might even have something Clexian to write! Right now that's kind of iffy, but the boys are hanging around, so we'll see. :)

How about you? Any festive ideas for your favorite characters this year? :)
bradygirl_12: (cake (lemon))
I had a great birthday! My sister sent me funny, celebratory pictures this morning on my phone and had treated me a few weeks ago to a birthday lunch after we visited our favorite apple orchard that was holding a craft fair. Very cool stuff! She also bought me apples and an apple pie. :)

She treated me early because she knew she was going to be busy this weekend. I got a real cute birthday card, too! :)

My co-workers were super-nice and gave me a box of chocolates and surprised me with a strawberry shortcake! So working on my birthday was pretty cool. :)

This weekend it's time to visit my local farm stand and get a baby pumpkin and gourds. Best time of year! :)

It's Avengers Week!!! :)

Okay, the movie might disappoint (ads and trailers never tell the whole story) but I think this will be a good one. Marvel generally handles large casts well, and this one appears to be A Cast Of Thousands, Cecil B. DeMille -style. :)

This could be the end of this current run, as:

1) The studio won't want to pay the kind of money the actors would demand with new contracts.

2) The actors may not want to commit to a new batch of movies.

3) Some of the actors will be aging out of their roles.

I'm still kinda excited. I'm hoping for fresh writing inspiration. :)

Who's ready to go see The Avengers: Infinity War?

Wanna hear something weird? I just realized that I had all my icons available again over on LJ! I never received any notice about the userpic packages being extended, so THANK YOU to my wonderful donor! What a happy surprise. :)
bradygirl_12: (shamrock (classic))
Happy St. Patrick's Day to ye! May good fortune smile upon ye and enjoy green beer, cupcakes, and corned beef (not green, ha, ha)!

I've gotten lots of compliments yesterday and today on my outfit of green shirt, hair ribbon, shamrock pin and green-and-white necklace. I'm off to the pub later! ;)

Thank You!

Yay for me! My sister couldn't get tomorrow off (my actual birthday), but she got today off and she surprised me with a trip to The Hall At Patriots Place, the museum dedicated to all things Patriots! Woot! :)

We saw the 5th Super Bowl trophy, some new exhibits, like Edelman's helmet and gloves he was wearing when he made the Miracle Catch, and a lot of other fun goodies that gladdens a Patriots' fan's heart! :)

We then went to CbsScene for lunch and BunnyGirl ordered a salad with tomatoes and feta cheese while I went with a burger and fries, complete with tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, mustard and red onions. We also started with spicy hot Buffalo chicken tenders! And, I got a surprise at the end of the meal: three waitresses bringing over a dish of strawberry ice cream and singing, "Happy Birthday!" :)

The view was great: we were able to see into Gillette Stadium and view the five championship banners! :)

So now my actual birthday is tomorrow with great memories. :)

Eclipse!

Aug. 20th, 2017 06:40 pm
bradygirl_12: (supergirl (new frontier smile))
Everybody ready for the eclipse? :)

I don't have any special glasses so I'm going old-school: I made a pinhole projector. Easy as pie: take two pieces of paper or cardboard (preferably heavy card stock or white cardboard, though regular paper and brown cardboard will do), and take a pin and make a hole in one piece. During the eclipse stand with your back to the sun, put one paper on the ground or a flat surface (shade it), hold up the pinhole paper and the sun's rays will stream through the hole and you'll see the eclipse. :)

There are slightly fancier projectors (using tin foil and another uses an empty cereal box). You can google 'pinhole projectors' and there are plenty of how-to videos to watch. :)

Hopefully it won't be cloudy tomorrow!

Ready for our Amazing Amazon? :)

I'll be hosting my final BradyGirl_12 Challenge on [community profile] wonderwomanlove and Wonderwomanlove (LJ), my comms dedicated to the Amazing Amazon. Check 'em out and join up! Truly, history will be made with the release of this film, and hopefully we've got a lot of fannish inspiration coming our way. :) Details on the Challenge soon, and [personal profile] ctbn60 has already created a fantastic banner, ready for all participants. Stay tuned!

Might be why the movie has been set during WWI because of the vitality of the Movement.)

Timeless

Oct. 3rd, 2016 10:56 am
bradygirl_12: (jack o'lanterns (glittering))
Hi, luvs!

I'm only going by the promos, as obviously the show debuts tonight, but if you're a fan of time travel, you may want to give Timeless a look. It's on NBC tonight at 10:00 and hopefully will be a good show. :)

Fall is finally here! After an early September heat wave, we're in cooler weather now. The trees are starting to turn, and I've got my baby pumpkin and gourds decorating my place. The colors are all red, yellow, and orange with some black thrown in for Halloween! :) My sister and I will be going to the orchard in a few weeks and I might take a trip soon to Trader Joe's for some mini pumpkin pies and cookies. :)

Football is in full swing, and the real season begins for us Pats fans with the return of Tom Brady from his unjust suspension. Watch out, NFL! Could be scorched earth if we're lucky!

Have a good day and enjoy the best season of all! :)

My sister BunnyGirl won't be in town for my birthday this Tuesday, so she treated me early to my present. Besides, this wasn't a thing meant to be stuffed in after work.

My Day )
bradygirl_12: (superman--batman (cooking--heat vision))
Hi, luvs!

As you can see by the icon on this post, I am busy utilizing my userpic packages and gathering more cool pix to showcase. I can't resist Clark using his heat vision to cook the hot dogs and burgers on the grill. :)

Speaking of cook-outs, I did attend one over the weekend with the requisite menu: hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad, potato salad, garden salad, chips, dips, pickles, olives...you know, good stuff! :) Everything tastes better on the grill!

P.S. To get the full effect, check this post out on my journal with its cook-out theme! :)
