Week 1: New England Patriots 33, Pittsburgh Steelers 3 (1-0) (Sunday, September 8, 2019)
The raising of the 6th championship banner was very cool. Football's back, baby! :)
Former Pats (Drew Bledsoe, Ty Law, Willie McGinest, Rob Gronkowski, Ron Ninkovich, and Martellus Bennett) trotted out the 6 Lombardi trophies, and the crowd went wild. It was a lot of fun! :)
Tom looked a little rusty but the Patriots scored first! Very nice play set up by some trickeration. ;)
Offense getting into a rhythm. 20-0 at the half! Defense looking strong, too.
& & &
Well, that went well. Very, in fact. :)
The Patriots did sputter a little on offense (some field goals instead of touchdowns), but they did score on nearly every possession, and looked confident doing it. The passing and running games looked good. Meanwhile, the Steelers looked clueless on both offense and defense, and the Patriots' defense was pretty sharp. Philip Dorsett scored two TDS, Tom threw 3, and there was good special teams work. Plenty of room for improvement, but all around, a very nice start to the season, especially since recent years have seen slow starts.
Of course, next week they go down to Miami, and as bad as the Dolphins are this year (they got blown out at home by the Baltimore Ravens, 59-10), something always happens to the Pats down there, even when they're good and Miami isn't. So we'll see, but it could be a romp. :)
The Bills came back to beat the Jets at the Jets' home stadium. :)
Oh, yeah, and we got Antonio Brown! Stay tuned! :)
