Light

 

Lamplight highlights dark, wavy hair, glinting off the gold signet ring as strong, capable fingers turns the page of Artie’s book, concentration in his chocolate-brown eyes.  His suit is all soft browns and golds, matching the soft effects of the jeweled Tiffany light.  His other hand holds a brandy snifter, its golden contents sparkling as he gently shakes the glass, swirling ribbons of gold striating through liquid amber. The diamond stickpin in his brown silk cravat winks as he looks up and sees Jim watching him. Light dances in velvet eyes, and a smile like the sun is Jim’s reward.

LOL! Hi, Merfilly! Yes, I'm an old hand at Jim/Artie. I posted a link to this to a WWW slash list I'm on. I'm also writing a story for the WWW zine, Sin & Salvation. It's a great little fandom! :)

I'm planning to write one about Jim, too, but he's being a little stubborn, the precious. ;)

I don't even *know* this pairing (I mean, in the abstract I do, but never watched it), but I love all the gold and brown and lighting effects...it's delicious! It's a very different palette than the S/B...isn't it interesting how pairings end up with color schemes?

Anyway, lovely and sumptuous. :)

Thank you, Jen! These boys barely bothered with subtext on the show...it was practically text! :)

Jim's colors will be green and blue (he has green eyes and his favorite suit is dark-blue). I'm going to work on it more tomorrow. Funny how a drabble can sometimes take as long as regular fic! ;)
