Very disappointing loss. The Patriots came back from a 24-6 deficit to score just before halftime and make it 24-13, then roared back to eventually tie the game at 31-31.
NFL overtime in the regular season goes like this: coin flip to determine who gets the ball first, and then whoever scores first wins. That means unless your defense stops the other team, you might not get a chance to even get your offense out on the field. The Patriots had the Jets at 3rd-and-15, and yet Favre got them 16 yards with a throw.
So, a hard-fought game at home was lost. This after tying the game with literally one second left (Cassel-to-Moss) and some great offensive performances in the second half after Keystone Kops-like miscues in the first.
The defense had played pretty well but blew it in overtime.
Still, the Patriots put up more than 500 yards of offense (yikes!) and so the Jets can celebrate, but when you let that much offense run over you…
So it’s a dogfight for the division for the first time in five years. Should be interesting next week in Miami! :)
Tommy Update: he was seen walking Giselle’s little dog so he can’t be too bad off with the knee. He is back in Foxboro getting treatment from the training staff and has lost weight after the surgeries and infection but still looks gorgeous! ;)
