Week 17: Houston Texans 34, New England Patriots 27 (10-6) (Sunday, January 3, 2010)
Well, the Pats didn’t win, but they’re already in the playoffs, so big whoop. They led by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter but gave it up again (fourth time this year) and ultimately lost by a TD, but worse is the fact that star receiver Wes Welker is done for the year with a knee injury. When a football player cries on the sidelines, you know he’s done. Replacement Julian Edelman, a rookie and a guy who played quarterback and is learning the wide receiver position, acquit himself very well with multiple catches and good yardage, but Mini Wes still isn’t Wes.
Also reported today is that Tom doesn’t have a broken rib…he has three. So that’s probably why he’s been a little inaccurate at times. ;) That might not be true, but we'll never get confirmation from Foxboro.
I’m not sure this team has the horses to go all the way, but they’re in the Tournament, and anything can happen! Next week is the first round, Wild Card Weekend! :)
