Week 17: New England Patriots 38, Miami Dolphins 7 (14-2) (Sunday, January 2, 2011)
Tom and the boys wrapped things up quite nicely in Foxboro against the Dolphins!
Tom threw his 335th pass without an INT, BenJarvus Green-Ellis got 1,000 yards rushing on the season (first time a Patriots’ running back has done so since Corey Dillon in 2004), Julian Edelman ran back a punt return for a TD (the first time in 9 years for the Pats, because they’re much better at kick-off returns!), and Bill Belichick won 14 games for a fourth season, the first time that’s been done in NFL history.
The boys looked sharp, and Tom was lifted about halfway through the third quarter. There’s always a debate this time of year on whether or not to play starters in a meaningless game when you’ve got the playoffs wrapped up. Last year Wes Welker injured his knee in the final game, though it wasn’t due to contact, just making a cut. Anyway, it was a little nerve-wracking to have Tommy in there that long, but he’s healthy! Whew! :)
It’s been quite a year! Bet Randy Moss wishes he didn’t shoot his way out of town. ;)
Our defense with all the kids grew up before our very eyes! And Tom and the offense are clicking better than ever! He should win the league MVP.
Should be interesting playoffs. The road to the Super Bowl goes through Foxboro! Woot!
