bradygirl_12"Collateral" (Smallville) (Season 10) (Episode 12) (February 4, 2011)
So the mystery of what happened in the last episode was cleared up. While the concept isn’t new, it’s still one I enjoy: people hooked up to computers and thinking their dream world is a reality. I liked the soft-lensed lighting in the dream world. Good idea.
The ol’ trust issue was back, but I couldn’t blame Clark for not trusting Chloe, and not just because she had gone away without telling anyone. For the past few years, she’s been cold, cynical, and not above spying on her friends and colleagues ‘for their own good’. Fine, but don’t expect the people being spied on to appreciate it.
And I thought maybe she was lying about trying to save them all! You can't tell on this show! ;)
Now, knowing Smallville, she could still have a hidden agenda, but she seems like the old Chloe again instead of the bitter Chloe of recent years.
I liked the flying scene, and it’s true that of all the heroes, Clark has resisted the final step, probably because deep down he knows that his life will never be the same again, and that as the world’s mightiest hero, he’s going to have a heckuva lot of responsibility. Who among us might not want to delay that a little, especially if they aren’t power-hungry?
The scene at the end with Clark and Chloe: was that a jab at Lex? That Chloe knowing that Clark was holding back yet she still continued to be his friend, knowing that it was up to him to say something? I suppose it is. I’m afraid that one of Lex’s flaws is his burning need to know everything, and that helped fray his friendship with Clark. He simply couldn’t wait until Clark told him (if he ever did).
Now I know that Smallville rarely sticks to canon, even its own, but will they be coming up with an explanation for why Chloe is virtually unknown in the 30th century, while others like Lois and Jimmy and Perry and the Kents are? You’d think an old friend and supporter like Chloe would get plenty of buzz.
And if she turned out to be an enemy (I still think that Brainiac is lurking around in her brain), wouldn’t that be noteworthy, too?
And if Chloe is doomed to disappear or do something that won't allow Ollie to be with her anymore, can we get Dinah to help pick up the pieces? I'm glad that she and Chloe had some interaction in this episode (Great fight scene. I love when the Canary uses her Cry!). Maybe we'll see more of her in the remaining episodes.
Does Justin Hartley do Woobie Ollie well or what? :)
Oh, well, looks like Lionel gets his wish next week and he’s in cozy with Martha again after all these years! ;)

Date: 2011-02-07 11:27 pm (UTC)The computer twist was one I didn't see coming, but it made sense, especially when Chloe kicked butt, because she was doing it in the virtual world. They played on her strengths and didn't give her hundreds of unrealistic talents, which was something that always annoyed me about Lana's character.

I was thrown back at the reason they chose for Clark not to trust Chloe, because as you said, she's given him tons of reasons not to trust her, leaving being the least of the problems. I'm just glad that everyone didn't just welcome her back with open arms. That would've upset me. Even with Ollie, she had to work to win back his trust, though he really wanted to believe too. Of course Lois trusted her without question but that makes sense.
I like the flying scene as well. I'm hoping we'll see it in the "real" world soon!

I took it as one. Not only to Lex, but Lana too. Though Chloe has done her share of investigating too, so it's not like she's a saint. I guess she was the only one who learned from her mistakes though, at least when it came to Clark and his secret.
I hope they don't kill Chloe off. That would be a frustrating end, at least IMO. But I really want to see how she leaves and hope that she gets a better ending than Lana (and even Lex) did.
As for Ollie, I believe the series will end with him alone and I'd be okay. Him having feelings for Dinah would be too much of a light switch, at this point.

Date: 2011-02-08 01:11 am (UTC)I definitely liked Chloe without a 1,001 fantastic skills and talents! Lana is just the producers' Mary Sue, which is a shame, because I've always loved Lana in the comics. :)
Yeah, even Ollie couldn't quite trust in the beginning. And it was cool when he and Chloe jumped off the roof. :)
Maybe the 'real' flying scene will be the series final one.
The thing about Dinah is, I'd like to see them interact more, and be friends as well as teammates so that if Chloe did depart, we could have a little foreshadowing of what could be in the future.
Woobie Ollie definitely needs a hug! :)
