Week 1: New England Patriots 38, Miami Dolphins 17 (1-0) (Monday, September 12, 2011)

Tom and the boys took no prisoners! ‘Tis the first game of the Pats’ season and it was a record-setting romp!

The first quarter was very crisp and two TDs were scored. The defense was shaky at first but then firmed up. The offense’s efficiency suffered in the second at the half, and center Dan Koppen was lost to an ankle injury. Not good!

A nice throw to Wes Welker by Tom put them up 21-14 (Miami had scored earlier in the quarter)! *fist pumps*

More good offensive plays happened! Tom is as sharp as a knife! ;) He had 4 TDs and 517 yards of passing offense, a career high for a single game. Also more than 600 yards total offense (passing and running) which set a franchise record). And he threw his longest TD pass of his career, 99 yards! Wes Welker grabbed it and was off to the races!

The no-huddle offense kept the Dolphins’ defense out on the field and they ended up the ones gassed instead of the Patriots in the muggy Miami heat. More than one Dolphin ended up with cramps in their legs as the heat wore them down.

The tight ends, Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski caught every ball thrown their way and Wes ended up with the most along with that spectacular TD. Deion Branch had a bunch of catches, too. Unfortunately, Ochocinco still doesn’t have the offense down and made a stupid rookie mistake that cost them a TD. Hopefully he can get up to speed! I like him.

The defense showed promise. Vince Wilfork pancaked Miami QB Chad Henne and Albert Haynesworth wreaked havoc. Still, the defense gave up over 400 yards to Henne, who is not a premier quarterback, so much work needs to be done.
But Tommy was the King of all he surveyed last night! Hope you had a chance to see a future Hall of Famer in action! :)

If Tom had throw Gronk one more pass, I would have my fantasy match up. Oh well, glad they won but that defense worries me. I doesn't seem much better than last year and that is their major weakness.

Defense wins Championships.

King Tom indeed! It was so good watching him cut up the defense.

I saw this game! Brady was amazing ... he was all calm and collected. I'm glad the defense picked up in the second half and I hope they continue to improve. Then they'd be unstoppable. :D

It's good have football back, y/y? ;D
