Week 2: New England Patriots 35, San Diego Chargers 21 (2-0) (Sunday, September 18, 2011)
Whoo hoo! Tom threw for over 400 yards this week, totalling over 900 for two games. Yikes! He’s scary good! ;)
The game was a mix this time around, with the offense mostly sharp, the two tight ends, Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez scoring 3 TDs and running back Ben-Jarvus Green-Ellis the other. Big Vince Wilfork got his first career interception! It was quite a sight to see this 300+ defensive lineman rumbling down the sideline. ;)
The offense did sputter a few times but not enough to be too troublesome. Deion Branch was outstanding, and Ochocinco made some nice catches. The defense still needs a lot of work, as they didn’t get much of a pass rush going, but made an important goal-line stand in the first half.
We Patriots’ fans had a scare as Tom’s knee almost got shredded again. It was a very close thing! Luck was with him, though, and he’s fine. *relieved*
So, the Chargers are a tough team but made more mistakes than the Pats did, and that’s the name of the game, my friends.
The Patriots have not lost a home opener since Gillette Stadium opened in 2002.
Believe it or not, Buffalo is 2-0! And that’s where Tommy and the boys are going next week.

Date: 2011-09-19 03:19 pm (UTC)It was a close thing for Tom. A D-back dove at his legs, which is supposed to be illegal! No penalty was called, though.
Exciting game! :)
