Ooooh, is that part of the original story as well? I can definitely see Hippolyta being particularly reluctant because of that.

It was added in the Silver Age, along with if a man stepped foot on Paradise Island, the Amazons would lose their beauty and immortality.

The original Earth-2 Diana was shown to be aging in her later years. She aged slower than Steve but eventually she would pass on like a mortal. That issue was addressed in Wonder Woman #300 back in the '80s.

Oh, I really love Steve's quick willingness not to set foot on the island once he realizes what the price is!

I doubt he wants to be the cause of disaster for the Amazons. :)

I wonder if he'll find out what Diana is giving up to be with him and what his reaction will be...

Eventually he will, and he will be very humbled, indeed. :)
