So last weekend I finally got the chance to see the 1922 silent film classic, Nosferatu. Thoughts when I first saw it was playing? That the Batman Elseworlds was based on this, a companion to Wonder Woman's Blue Angel and Superman's Metropolis. So I automatically think fannish connections? Wait, it gets better! :)

That was my second thought )

I was saddened to learn of the death of Robert Culp, a consummate actor who appeared in many productions in the 1950s and early '60s, and then in 1965-1968 starred with Bill Cosby in the ground-breaking drama, I Spy. He wrote seven episodes (one of which was nominated for an Emmy) and directed one for the show as well as acted (he received 3 Emmy nominations for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role In A Dramatic Series and a Golden Globe nomination). He had great chemistry with his co-star, Bill Cosby, and they were friends off-screen as well. He was one of the reasons I watched the early '80s show, The Greatest American Hero. He was handsome and funny and cool and had a great smile! :)

Quotes from Bill Cosby on the passing of his friend:

"I Spy" greatly advanced the careers of Culp and Cosby and forged a lifelong friendship. Cosby said Wednesday Culp was like an older brother to him.

"The first born in every family is always dreaming of the older brother or sister he or she doesn't have, to protect, to be the buffer, provide the wisdom, shoulder the blows and make things right," he said. "Bob was the answer to my dreams."

"No matter how many mistakes I made on 'I Spy,' he was always there to teach and protect me," Cosby said."

RIP, Robert.
