So, the final chapter has been posted and the work has been completed. Whew! Wipes brow. It’s been a wild, crazy ride my friends! :) Thanks to all who stuck with me and especially to those who commented. Without comments I’m not sure this Epic would have been completed, or at least not as quickly. Comments keep the Muses inspired, you know. ;) Your reactions and ideas helped me as I wrote and while I definitely kept my own vision, there were modifications made because your questions and thoughts made me think, all for the better!

I started this Epic in my notebook on January 29, 2007 and finished the first draft on December 3, 2011. I started posting on March 15, 2007 and finished on March 29, 2013. So it was five years in the writing stage and six for posting. It took awhile for posting because I was busy working on other fanfic projects and in the final year, my profic. All nine arcs clocked in at the word count of 479,218.

Major spoilers behind the cut )

Not out of the woods yet. High winds are expected. A large branch fell and tore off part of the porch railing. Oh, joy. Dozens of branches scattered around.

So, in an effort to keep my sanity (ha, ha, so says she with the Joker laugh), I'm tossing out a question: if you read Steve/Diana, what do you love about them? I just had my first food of the day about an hour ago, so feed me intellectually! ;)

How I Write

II:

Discipline!!!

It’s all well and good to dream of the Bohemian lifestyle and create without rules and regulations, but that’s pretty much what it is: a dream. Unless you’re a genius on the level of Picasso or Joyce, unfettered and undisciplined isn’t going to work.

How I Write

I:

Location, Location, Location!!!

I’d like to do a series of essays on How I Write, covering topics like the mechanics, inspiration, and a method to the madness, and the first one is pretty simple: how do I physically go about it?

I’m one of the lucky ones. )
bradygirl_12: (ollie (glamor queen green))
Hi, all! I’ve been musing on the nature of Big Bangs and how I’ve ‘stretched’ my writing muscles in 2011. I could wait and write this at the end of the year, but everything gets so crammed then that I think I’ll do a little reflection now in the heat of the summer.

Cut for length )
bradygirl_12: (superman (red-&-gray))
Wow, I just read over on Newsarama the changes planned for Superman in the reboot here.

I'll discuss my opinions behind a cut, because

Spoilers galore! )

Hey, luvs! I just posted my essay on The World's Finest (Introduction To Superman/Batman) over on [livejournal.com profile] superhero_muses. Go check it out and have fun discussing! :)
bradygirl_12: (santa claus is comin' to town)
While Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer was more about social issues, Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town delved more into political/philosophical concerns.

I LOVE Kris’ huge blue eyes! )
bradygirl_12: (christmastown gang)
Watching Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer is always fun. The message of accepting differences is a good one, too. As a five-year-old seeing it for the first time, it made a big impression on me, though admittedly, I wondered why a red nose, difference or not, was such a big deal.

Homophobia in Christmastown? )

I was watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show the other night and with an evil grin, realized that in the DCU, Dick would be the perfect one to cast as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. ;) Who would look better in fishnet stockings, at least on the male side? Right, Dinah and Zee? ;)

Can't you just SEE our boy strutting and vamping in corset and fishnets? *happy sigh*

Hmm, some of the other parts could be filled by: Dinah as Magenta, Kori as Columbia, Barbara as Dr. Scott (genderbending here but that's in the spirit of the play/movie!), either Barry and Iris as Brad and Janet or Roy and Donna, but who would play Rocky? Clark? He's certainly perfect enough! ;) J'onn, that hunk of Martian love? ;) Would Bruce be satisfied as The Criminalogist? Who could have fun playing Riff Raff and Eddie?
bradygirl_12: (roy--johnny (rampart coffee))
Thoroughly enjoyed yesterday’s angstfest E! episode, Virus. Johnny falls ill to a mysterious virus that’s brought down others, too, but the virus is a new strain no one’s ever seen before. Roy does some wonderful worrying and emo’ing over his partner. ;) When he finally has to go back to work and leave Johnny's side, he’s told his replacement partner’s waiting for him out in the squad. “My temporary partner,” he says.

Roy and Johnny are the paramedics of Station 51’s A-Shift, and the four other firefighters work off the engine (Big Red). All six spend 24 hours at a time with each other, sharing meals and sleeping in the dorm at night when they’re not called out. Roy and Johnny sleep about two feet away from each other. ;)

They really are a family instead of just paying lip service to that fact. All six guys are friends, bicker, squabble, and save each other’s lives in fires or on other dangerous rescues. Chet and Johnny share a Spock/McCoy relationship: eternally bickering but always there when the chips are down. Chet is Johnny’s closest friend after Roy though both would rather die than admit it. Within the family of six are Roy and Johnny, partners and Old Married Couple. ;)

In honor of one of E!’s finest emo episodes, enjoy some slashy moments between the guys throughout the series!

Author’s Notes: Written awhile ago but I knew I’d find the right time for it! :) Entered into my 2010 Guns_Fedoras Public Enemies First Anniversary Celebration Fest!!! and posted on the 76th anniversary of John Dillinger’s death at the Biograph. Cross-posted to [livejournal.com profile] guns_fedoras.

In a movie with many memorable moments, the scenes at the Biograph Theater in Public Enemies were pure gold in acting, direction, and music. )
bradygirl_12: (mel--johnny (fedoras))
So last weekend I finally got the chance to see the 1922 silent film classic, Nosferatu. Thoughts when I first saw it was playing? That the Batman Elseworlds was based on this, a companion to Wonder Woman's Blue Angel and Superman's Metropolis. So I automatically think fannish connections? Wait, it gets better! :)

That was my second thought )
bradygirl_12: (wonder woman (prayer))
Well, the Ides of March seem to be a good time to post The End Of All Things: Apocalyptic Fic over on [livejournal.com profile] superhero_muses! :) Go check it out! :)
bradygirl_12: (Default)
So, since I've been discussing my Fedora Fandoms lately, it got me to thinking...what periods of history do you enjoy? Ancient/Classical, the Middle Ages, the Enlightenment, Colonial (in America), Victorian, 20th century, etc.? Any decades within the 20th century that draw you in? And if you are historically-inclined, do you ever use that interest in your creative works of fiction, art, fanmixes, etc.?

My thoughts )
