Some Ramblings, Ficcish And Otherwise

Man, it’s been a crazy day! I got up later than usual after a long night last night, and I’ve been trying to play catch-up all day! :)
I wrapped up Stained Glass I: Shattered yesterday and posted it, and finished the first draft of my Valentine’s Day fic. It needs polishing but should be ready in time.
My Clark/Bruce Muses whispered to me and I’ve started a short fic for them, and I’m trying to catch up on the f-list, which I am behind yet again! :)
Lately the Amazing Amazon has captured my Muses, insisting that she have some screen time and I've gifted her with time with the Blond Boyfriend and some with the Blond Pretty Bird. ;)
Also, I have a few possible story ideas with Selina, and hopefully they’ll take off soon. :)
Rainbow's Freedom hasn't stalled yet, so that's progressing at a nice pace.
Other ruminations include fanfic writing in general. While I am hopeful, of course, that I am considered a good writer first-and-foremost, I’ve been poring over my list of fics and am pleased to see an eclectic variety there, whether in genre or rating or pairing. I know that certain types of fic or pairings tend to stick with each writer, and while I have written a variety I know that I’ve got my own corner of the fanfic universe over here. LOL!
Mainly it’s because I don’t hew that closely to current canon but I think I capture the spirit of the characters. My writer’s curiosity wonders what pairing or kind of fic pops into people’s heads when they see my name on their f-list or comm., and that’s why I said I’m hopeful that Good Fic is first! ;)
I write some popular pairings and have some niche pairings, and both kinds give me much joy. I have a certain style and am always trying to try something a little different now and then, hopefully succeeding! :) Though I’ll admit I like my comfort zone as well, as some of my best work has been from that zone.
Well, that’s pretty much it for ramblings. Oh, and I haven’t looked at a sports page or a football message board except the Patriots’ board for a week. I am so glad that fandom is here for me, because I sure need a refuge right now! :)

Date: 2008-02-10 04:55 am (UTC)*hugs* Thank you, dear! :)
It's the chemistry thing. Each pair has their own and need to have it nurtured. Dontcha just roll your eyes at fics where you can't tell who they're about until you read the name, or you could plug in Character A into Character B's slot?
You know, you're not so bad in that multiple-pairing department yourself. Have you looked at your list of posted fics and realized just how versatile you've been?

Date: 2008-02-11 03:26 am (UTC)I mean about a Clark/Bruce story and "Rainbow's Freedom". On pairings I like I think you know my preference already. I'm naughty and won't answer your meme. 'Cos it requires too much thinking. I will say I do like that your long stories do have plots plus twists and turns. Then there's the emotions and sexy stuff. I also like the alternate world of Rainbow's Freedom. Though in some ways that's what superhero stories are. We only have them in fiction. But I do like the added twist with "Rainbow's Freedom". That said I like all sorts of stories. Short, long, happy, tragic as well as humorous. Complicated or PWP. PG or adult. Whatever you want. Although you did write a rather depressing fic recently. Maybe some fics should have silly warnings. Like - don't read if suicidal. Or - don't eat or drink while reading as it may damage the keyboard (hopefully). ;-)
OK the first one isn't tasteful. But there should be a depression warning or something sometimes. I know - don't read if you want to feel happy (i.e. for depressing or deathfics). I will point out I sometimes look for those fics as I feel like reading them. But not always. Sorry I didn't mean to go on and on. I read the meme post first and it must of percolated slightly. What does meme mean? Is it for reader feedback or suggestions? 'Cos you don't have that elsewhere.

As for darkfics, well, I did label it a deathfic. I don't like giving away too much, but I warn people. :)
This is what I understand a meme is:
In the context of web logs / 'blogs / blogging and other kinds of personal web sites it's some kind of list of questions that you saw somewhere else and you decided to answer the questions. Then someone else sees them and does them and so on and so on.
Hope that helps! :)

Date: 2008-02-12 08:03 am (UTC)The problem with deathfics is that even with a warning it's such a small word it can be missed. Then there's different kinds. I think the one you wrote was particularly dark for me because a certain someone was murdered by someone else. Totally bitchin'. I think it needs a bitter warning. 'Cos it's one thing to have them die tragically but it's another to murder them. For me at least. Believe me I'm not complaining about the fic but boy it was a downer. Congratulations on that. Actually I find torture hardest to read if the main pairing is doing it to the other. Except if they were under mind control maybe. So please warn. By the way I have no problem if others do it to them. I just don't find torture to be loving and don't get it if written otherwise.
On the meme thing thanks again. I had a feeling it was going to be some sort of internet chain letter or something. Sorry I didn't intend to write so much. I do love your writing. I just want to reiterate that.
