"Bloodline" (Episode 8) (Season 8) (November 6, 2008)

This week was pretty awesome! I enjoyed it overall.

Erica really rocked as Faora (sp?). She’s quite the mommy, eh? ;)

It was sad to think of Kara in that hellhole of the Zone for so long. For a second there, it looked like she might die there, but Clark persuaded her to save herself. You could really feel the love between them. They have great cousinly chemistry!

Ollie was cool in this. Loved seeing him as Green Arrow this week and the poor boy got knocked clear across the room by Chloe.

As annoying as Chloe has been this season, I really fear for her.

The Davis thing continues to creep me out. Faora just upped the creepiness factor.

With the Clark/Tess scene, I missed Lex again. ;)

Tess really has great chemistry with all the actresses. She had some great chemistry with Chloe and then Lois-turned-Faora.

Kara is different after her time in the Phantom Zone which is totally understandable. She just seems so sad now, though I’m happy she wasn’t stuck in the Zone and even though she’s gone from the farm, she’s healthy and on a quest to focus her energies.

I do find the choice of Doomsday to be added to SV to be curious. It’s just not going to have the same impact since only those nearest and dearest to Clark will mourn him if he dies at the hands of Doomsday. It’s far better for his career as Superman to be established so that people have an emotional investment in him when the end comes.

What if he makes his debut in this timeline in order to fight Doomsday? I’m sure people will be saddened to see him fall, but the emotional investment just wont’ be there. It seems like bringing in this character is jumping the gun.

When SV finally comes to an end, I could vote for Chloe being killed off. Foreshadowing seems to hang around this character even though she’s only in SV and not in any other incarnation of the Superman mythos. This Brainiac infection creeps me out as much as Davis!

I got a plot bunny from tonight’s episode but Goddess knows when I’ll write it! I have a plate so heaping now it looks like Thanksgiving dinner. ;)

This was a great episode! I totally needed it after what happened earlier in the week.

And I absolutely agree, Erica was fantastic and completely blew me away. Can we have moar?

And you know, I totally forgot that Davis was Doomsday. I thought he was Lor-Zod, or Chris Kent from the comics. Kinda makes me a little more interested now. The best scene IMO was when Zod's wife stabbed Davis with a pipe and the light flickers as she tells him whatever kills you will make you stronger. 0___0 Awesome.

I loved this episode! And Erica! She wins! In an interview, she said if she could have a power, she would like to throw people around. LOL!

And she looked gorgeous. I was more than a little in love with her hair when she was possessed.

It was sad to think of Kara in that hellhole of the Zone for so long. For a second there, it looked like she might die there, but Clark persuaded her to save herself. You could really feel the love between them. They have great cousinly chemistry!

They do! I wish Kara was around so Clark wouldn't be so lonely though. She was good in this episode and I think they did a nice job of explaining her whereabouts and gave good closure to her story.

Ollie was adorable! But the poor guy doesn't even have a home anymore!

Tess really has great chemistry with the female characters. :D

And you're not the first who thinks Chloe may be killed off by the end of the season. Someone else on my flist said that too. I do think it seems like they're foreshadowing for it though.

Great review! Yay for s8! :D

Ooh, plot bunny? What kind of plot bunny? Whatever it is, I encourage it completely. ;)

I loved this episode. Erica was truly a different person as Faora. Though I laughed that she had time to go change and curl her hair when she was desperately seeking her son, but whatever.

And I also laughed that Kara had time to go pretty up her hair when it was oh so important to save Lois.

lol.

Anyways, I have a love-hate relationship with Chloe. I really hated her in the first few seasons, but I've liked her over the last few, but I honestly think she is going to end up dying. I have a feeling she'll get her healing power back and sacrifice herself to save Clark. There will be some pissed fans, but hopefully they can do it well.

I'm curious to see what they do with Doomsday, but you're right about his being brought in being premature. It's still pretty interesting to see the character's evolution though.

Sounds like we're totally opposite on Chloe. She's been annoying me this season though. I think it's because her storyline feels like it should be done. Though obviously they've got some interesting things for her now, but I really want to see some focus on the iconic characters and not Smallville's made-up character. (and their unhealthy worship of Lana, but that's another discussion entirely)

On Doomsday, I'm taking a wait-and-see approach. It won't be nearly the same as the comics, but maybe it will be good. Maybe they won't even have Doomsday kill him, since they have stated in interviews that Doomsday is still evolving and becoming the monster he's destined to be (which is obvious) but I think that might be a cop-out. Hmm...
