I'm glad to see that I'm keeping up the ficcish pace! ;)

I wrote HOW many stories this year?

First, a little background:

I joined LJ in October of 2006 (first post in November), and posted my first story, Announcement I: The Ready Room, in December of 2006. It was a Clark/Bruce tale, and the remaining 3 stories for that year were of that pairing as well.

I counted each year’s stories, and broke them down by pairing, which I’ll discuss below the stats. I used the following method: simple counting, but if a multi-chapter story started in one year and ended in the next, I counted the year it began. Time And Place was posted in 2006 and ended in early 2007.

Naturally I counted a pairing if they were the focus of the story, but if they shared equal ‘screen time’ with another couple or couples, that story was also counted as theirs. In some of my multiple pairing stories, several couples could count it as their story (Strange Brew, The Jig’s Up!, and many others). Ollie/Dinah, for instance, have a number of 9 in the past four years, but only 1 story was written with them as the lead couple. The rest are stories they share with others. So if anyone bothered to total the pairings and the story totals, the pairings would be a higher total than the stories.

Here are the statistics, broken down by year and pairing/threesome:

Pairings/Threesomes 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010

Word Count (2007): NA (87)
Word Count (2008): NA (186)
Word Count (2009): NA (296)
Word Count (2010): 209,445 (383)

2010 was an interesting year. My three main pairings in the DC Comics fandom showed a significant drop: Clark/Bruce went from 33 to 22, Bruce/Dick from 14 to 8, and Steve/Diana from 18 to 10. Not because I lost interest in these pairings, but I expanded my fannish writing. In addition to the new fandom, Public Enemies, I found myself caught up on an old but well-loved fandom, Emergency!, and ended up writing 11 stories for Roy/Johnny in that fandom, with many more in the pipeline to come (10 starred the boys, and 1 counted as a guest appearance in Rainbow’s Freedom.

There were plenty of multi-chaptered fics posted, but enough one-shots to bring the total to 87. That indicates a steady fic count with a slight drop, compared with 2009’s 110. Also, this year I did an ongoing word count, which reached 209,445. I haven’t done word counts for the previous years so can’t compare that stat, but I’m guessing it’s around the same. I hope to rectify the missing word counts if I get the energy. ;)

Quite a few stories were written but didn’t make the posting stage, at least not yet. Some never will, but a good amount (probably 75%) will see posting.

My main project, Rainbow’s Freedom, continues. I managed to start writing the final arc (8) in 2010, but posted Arc 7 slowly, due to RL eating into my time and holiday projects taking my attention from September onward. I’m hoping to complete posting Arc 7 in 2011 and start posting Arc 8 if I’m lucky!

Public Enemies remained a strong fandom for me, with 9 stories for Mel/Johnny and 4 stories for Mel/Johnny/Billie, in addition to other scattered pairings.

Other fandoms made a comeback for me: Star Wars was a fandom that I’d written poetry and stories in years ago, and I wrote my first Han/Luke story in years and posted it in 2010. I hope to write more about the Jedi and the Scoundrel! ;)

New ones made it in, too! The Sherlock Holmes movie of 2009 inspired me to write 2 stories for Holmes/Watson. :) If I actually get plot bunnies for these two, I hope to write more. I love the Victorian era.

I don’t know what the New Year will bring, though I’m hopeful of completing the remainder of my [livejournal.com profile] dcu_freeforall claims tables, (or at least one of them), and was happy to complete the Clark/Bruce claims table in 2010. :)

If you’d like to look over last year’s stories, check out the links on my sidebar. All stories’ posting dates are included in the info.

Damn - did you have time to do other things? Like breathe, for example? :)

I'm officially impressed.
