Week 3: Buffalo Bills 34,New England Patriots 31 (2-1) (Sunday, September 25, 2011)

Argh!!! Tom came back down to earth with a thump!

The game started out well with the Pats putting up three TDs and a 21-0 lead. Wes Welker had the best day of his career with 16 receptions and a ton of yardage. He did everything possible to win this game, but too many crazy things happened. Tom came back down to earth with FOUR INTERCEPTIONS!!! Two were his fault, and two were tipped balls.

I don’t see much of a future for Chad Ochocinco in New England. He messed up on one of the INTs and dropped a perfect pass that would have tied the game. Too bad, too, because I like him.

The offense’s turnovers and the defense’s inability to stop the Bills sealed their fate. For the first time since 2003, the Bills beat the Patriots, who committed turnovers and stupid penalties.

The defense got NO pressure on Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Bills’ QB. They couldn’t stop the run OR the pass. They are like the sieve defense of the last three years, and that means one-and-done in the playoffs, people. Yes, I know it’s Week 3, but a porous defense gets you nowhere in the NFL. We’ll see Tom putting up pretty numbers (and looking pretty), but you can’t win a Super Bowl with a great offense and leaky defense.

The next game is against the Raiders out in Oakland and then against the Jets at home. Every game is a battle, and the Patriots are losing in the trenches. Hopefully Tom will leave this stinker of a game behind and at least give us some fireworks this season.

I was watching Saint-Texans and was flabbergasted when I caught the score toward the end of the game--down to earth indeed :( I can see why you are frustrated--4 interceptions is not-good. Yowza. I had NE on my Pigskin Pick'ems for work, too...was sure of them.

We were watching the 49ers over here but my sis and I were paying more attention to the score updates than the actual game to check what was going on. So sad! BTW, I think it's really weird that the Bills are 3-0. :\

I saw that in one of the recaps. What a shame. I was hoping he'd bring more to the Patriots than he is.

Hopefully the next few weeks go better.

Edit: oops, comment on wrong post.

I couldn't believe what happened in the game. I agree about Chad. After he dropped that one wide open pass in the 4th quarter, I don't know if Tom will ever be able to trust him. Hopefully they click soon because Welker can't quite carry the load himself. But he sure did try!
