Avengers Release?

So it sounds to me as if people are getting to see The Avengers before May 4th. At least that's the date it's opening around here. I guess Hollywood is doing different opening dates in different areas of the country. I might be able to see it the Tuesday after it opens or the week after that. 'Til then I'll be avoiding all Marvel fic! :)

It's opening in Europe and Australia *before* it opens in the States. There have also been some screenings. I will see it Saturday after Free Comic Book Day shopping. It's very very hard to avoid spoilers.

I wonder if that's something they've always done or is it new, opening overseas before the States? I just wish they had opened it last Friday. I don't expect it to be the greatest movie ever, but I've liked the Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America movies so I'm pretty sure I'll like this one. :)

This isn't normal.

Not sure why they're doing it differently with this film.

Weird! And I've heard that it's 3-D. Well, my local theater does give you two choices: 3-D and not 3-D. Some people don't like paying extra for the glasses or like wearing them.

Yup. People on my flist have already seen it. Still so excited! I'm probably going to see it around the Tuesday after it opens too! Since I promised my best friend that I will watch it with her and she'll be in New York till Monday. XD

It's opening on April 25 in Taiwan. It's usually a day or two earlier than in US, but this one is one week earlier. I went to see it yesterday.

Yeah it's opening all over the world before we get to see it! =( I wonder if that always happens and I just never knew...

I'm avoiding spoilers, too, but it's getting harder to do! Also, I will be going to a midnight showing! I cannot not go! XD

But I'll be avoiding all Marvel comms until next week. Gah, I hate to think what I'll have to avoid when The Dark Knight Rises comes out! :)

I took next Wednesday(5/9) off just so I can go and see it during the day with less of an audience. I'm really excited to see it. Every trailer and commercial looks awesome and now I hear there's going to be a new Batman trailer showing before it. So, I'm even more excited.

It opens at 12:01am Friday here in Florida. I'm trying to decided between 2-D, 3-D or 3-D IMAX. I'm trying to hit an early morning (9am) showing next week. I've already been spoiled, so I'm not so anxious for my head-canon to be further screwed.

It is unusual for American films to open overseas first, but not unheard-of. I think it's probably to spike the guns of the copymarket. It's probably going to happen more often from here on out.

There are versions of the film available for viewing online, which is where I watched it. I am not in favor of giving my hard-earned money to Marvel after they successfully sued the Ghost Rider artist for all the money he'd made at cons over the years selling GR drawings.

Dunno about that for the die-hard fans -- I know at least one guy who is seeing it online by any means necessary because he wants to see it ASAP (and probably has by now), and is still gonna see it in theaters. (Not that many of us would not be up for seeing t3h awesomeness twice, I'm sure ^_^;; )

Got reminded by one set of friends about the timing for the midnight showing, then got tickets for a midnight showing myself and poked a friend into coming along, too! *whee!*
