Week 9: New England Patriots 27, Washington Redskins 10 (8-0) (Sunday, November 8, 2015)
8-0, baby! ;)
The Patriots started out pretty quickly on this one. Tom and the offense were very sharp as they marched down the field and scored immediately, and then a surprise onside kick gave them the ball back. They turned it over but got it back through a turnover, and it was 14-0 before anyone could blink!
Turnovers were the story of the game. Both teams caused turnovers but the Patriots capitalized on them much better than the Redskins did. During one turnover Tom even threw a block, saving a touchdown! Scary moment there, watching him block. Tom, your shoulder!
Sadly, we lost Dion Lewis, our shifty running back, to a torn ACL. He’s done for the season. This poor soul already lost two years to a broken leg earlier in his career. Some guys just have buzzard’s luck.
The offense was as explosive the rest of the game but was plenty good enough to beat the Washington team. A touchdown in garbage time upped the score from 3 to 10 in the final seconds.
Another unbeaten team fell by the wayside, the Broncos losing to the Colts on the road. The only unbeaten teams left are New England, Carolina, and Cincinnati.
The Bills beat the Dolphins and the Jets won over the Jaguars so the division looks like this:
AFC East
New England 8-0
NYJ 5-3
Buffalo 4-4
Miami 3-5
