So, with my first Big Bang sign-up and possibly more on the horizon, I thought I'd toss this question out:
If you were to host a Big Bang, what fandom/pairing/subject would you choose? And even if there is one already out there (Smallville, Supernatural, femslash, BDSM, etc.), if it's something you would like to host, name it!
I host Challenges all the time, but a BB is a bit more work! ;) So, theoretically speaking, I would probably host a Slavefic Big Bang (Yes, I know, there's probably one out there, but this is just me daydreaming, LOL) and would have to decide whether or not to limit it to one fandom, like DC, or make it multi-fandom. Or also include original works. But the theme would carry the word count.
What would be the word count? I'd probably offer 10,000 to start, and maybe up the ante if the first one was successful. Anyway, with all this talk of Big Bangs, I started my What-Ifs? ;)
How about you?

Date: 2011-06-08 02:26 am (UTC)I think 10K is the minimum you'd want. There are quite a few others out there so if you want to go for 25K-50K then you'd have to wait for posting until 2012 IMO. There's just so many others going on currently.
I like the idea of a slavefic challenge that allows consensual BDSM in pretty much any fandom. A femslash one would be good too, though I'm not sure who I'd write for that. *ponders*
Interesting question!

Date: 2011-06-08 02:51 am (UTC)Yep, not surprised! ;)
And that's true, expanding the eligible fandoms and including original work would get you more participants. Slavefic translates well to any fandom! :)
I know! So many Big Bangs! I just saw a pimp for a femslash one, and there's a BDSM one going on, and of course the SV one we signed up for, and possibly Clark/Bruce! So it got me thinking as to my preferences if I hosted one.
If I was writing for a femslash one, it'd be easy to choose from a lot of DC/SV pairings.
So, your preference would be to include BDSM in a slavefic challenge? I was thinking of purely slavefic to really get those power dynamics going in different ways! :)
You sound as if your SVBB is going well. I think I'm up to 2,000 words, myself. :)

Date: 2011-06-08 02:56 am (UTC)Very true! I do think expanding the eligible fandoms will help.
Wow, I didn't know about the femslash one or the BDSM one. No wonder you got all thinky!
True, but most of them I don't know very well. Makes it a little harder. ;)
Mmm, I was thinking of the total power exchange sort of BDSM, like the BDSM 'verses that people have written, or Destiny in the Blood. It would have to be a 24/7 type of thing in my mind, not a sometime choice. I've written several worlds where there's something similar.
I'm up close to 9000 words right now but I expect I'm going to end up around 35,000 words so I've got a good ways to go. Good job on yours!

Date: 2011-06-08 03:04 am (UTC)Yeah, I'm on a BDSM fic comm and they're hosting over there. I just didn't have any ideas for the amount of words so passed. And
Do you think you would have candidates in SV for femslash? And lengthy enough for a BB?
Oh, yes! The 24/7 thing works for me! I do enjoy the occasional dip into BDSM by characters, but 24/7 is such a different dynamic! And your Destiny In The Blood is a perfect example. :)
Wow, 9,000 words! Go, you! :)
I have no idea how long mine will be. I'm just aiming for the minimum and the rest is gravy! ;)

Date: 2011-06-08 03:08 pm (UTC)Huh, I might have to check that out. ;)
Hmm, I can usually find ideas that are long enough. It's figuring out which girls to use that I'm comfortable with. I could always go write that story I had about Themyscira and Diana's younger life though... *ponders*
*nods* 24/7 fits the definition.
Still a long ways to go. *sigh* But I'll get there yet. :)
Good luck on the writing!

Date: 2011-06-08 04:14 pm (UTC)I would find that topic of Diana's younger life to be very interesting. Keep pondering! ;)
Thanks for the well wishes! I was thinking about the story last night and making some changes in my head. I'm keeping the main plot and theme but there are things that could be done better. Anyway, you'll be able to give you my opinion when it's time to beta! ;)
I should include a food scene, huh? ;)

Date: 2011-06-09 02:57 pm (UTC)And yet then I tell myself that I can write 10K in a week pretty easily so.... *is way too prolific for my own good*
I'd really love to write about Diana's childhood and all the Amazons. It's been percolating for ages. The only question is which 'verse I'd set it in. Could be the Robin!Lex 'verse where Diana's very old or could be in the Harem 'verse where there are men too, just on a separate island. I'm thinking Robin!Lex 'verse so far, if only because I do love that one and want to get back to it.
And whoot progress! Yes, there should always be a food scene, especially if it includes Clark and Lex feeding each other something and being all seductive and tempting. *g*

Date: 2011-06-09 06:47 pm (UTC)I have to admire you about the 100,000 word BB. I know I can write that amount, but would be majorly stressed to do it on a timetable.
Heh, I'll vote for Diana in Harem 'verse, but you could guess that. ;)
I'll have to consider putting in a food scene. It'll be unwittingly seductive, because this is very early Clex and a Clark's a little too young for major sheanigans, but the yearning and love are there. :)

Date: 2011-06-10 01:52 am (UTC)I've got a fair amount of that total already written, somewhere around 30K I think. It's just that I have about 3/4 of the story left to write yet. *sighs* That's part of why I'm really thinking about that BB.
Heh, I'll vote for Diana in Harem 'verse, but you could guess that. ;)
Hee! Yeah, I can see that. Though if it's focusing on her childhood you're not getting Steve or Hal!

Awwww, that'll be adorable! :D

Date: 2011-06-10 03:19 am (UTC)Well, even as a child, I can imagine how the story in that 'verse would be fascinating. World-building the Amazons is a great exercise, as we know so much about them, and yet, not so much. It's a fertile ground for your own ideas. :)
Just don't have the Amazons attacking Washington or overrunning Europe! ;)
Clex can be very adorable! :)

Date: 2011-06-08 04:26 pm (UTC)We definitely need more femslash! :)
One idea that would be nice is a big bang for gen fics ... I don't know how well it would go over but I would definitely be interesting in reading more stories focused on individual characters or family/friendships even!
It's true, gen is a lot rarer than slash, though I do like the idea of focusing on family/friendships. I know that when I write gen Trinity fic, it's always very satisfying. :)

Date: 2011-06-08 11:46 pm (UTC)Wouldn't it be fun? You could not only draw in Clark and Bruce fans, but Diana fans! :)

Date: 2011-06-08 04:09 am (UTC)I think multifandom is a great idea, but original works might be a little sketchy. After all, part of the big bang is the artist sign ups and I don't know about anyone else, but I would have little to no interest in trying to draw someone's original characters. (I just wouldn't be invested, I'd not even offer to draw for an original work of fiction.)

Date: 2011-06-08 04:30 pm (UTC)Big Bangs are tougher than regular Challenges, that's for sure. I know that I keep my Challenges simple for that very reason. :)

Wow, that's interesting. Not being an artist, I never even thought of that. *food for thought*

Date: 2011-06-08 06:05 pm (UTC)True! Maybe someday I'd tackle something like that, but for now I'm very happy with my Challenges. Two Wondrous Challenges, indeed! ;)

I like hearing from the artist POV.

Me, too, LOL!

Date: 2011-06-08 04:55 pm (UTC)Personally, I think a DC/Marvel slavefic BB would be the most epic thing ever. But that's just me. :D
I'm super excied for the prospect of a world's finest big bang. I've already got a plot bunny for it if I decided to participate.

Date: 2011-06-08 06:08 pm (UTC)I would definitely think about including Marvel! Lots of possibilities there. :)

Cool! I don't have a plot bunny yet but I'm going to think about it. Maybe take out something old I haven't tackled yet, and see if it could be stretched to fit the word count.

Date: 2011-06-08 08:57 pm (UTC)Uhmm, can you link me to the BDSM challenge pretty plx? I took a look at the femslash on, and can I just say yum? X3
Other than non-comics related fandoms, nothing specific comes to mind for other BB challenges I'd be up to doing. But Slavefic~ <3

Date: 2011-06-11 06:15 pm (UTC)I think there's an Original Big Bang out there. If I find the link I'll post it.
I steer clear of BBs that go 50,000 words and beyond. Too much stress! And 100,000 is crazeee! ;)
