AFC Championship Game (Week 20): New England Patriots 23, Baltimore Ravens 20 (15-3) (2-0) (Sunday, January 22, 2012)
WE’RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!
*dances*
Ironically, Tom had his worst game of the year (even with a flying leap over the Ravens’ D to score the winning touchdown, heh heh) but the much-maligned defense came up HUGE, and I don’t mean just Big Vince Wilfork! ;)
Stephen Tyler of Aerosmith sang the National Anthem and a fighter plane buzzed over the stadium. Hmm, Tyler's still got pipes.
The day was around 29 degrees and crisp and cold: Patriots weather! :)
This was a nail-biter all the way, and after Brandon Spikes picked off a Joe Flacco pass in the fourth quarter with seven minutes left, Tom gave it right back to the Ravens with a dumb decision and throw. But we love you anyway, Tommy. ;)
He said himself on the podium when the trophy was presented that he sucked. He’s going to be a man possessed even MORE the next two weeks! He played like one with that crazy touchdown but he needs to be a LOT better in the Super Bowl!
Drew Bledsoe, the man whom Tom replaced at QB ten years ago, presented the Lamar Hunt Trophy for winning the AFC.
This is Tom's fifth Super Bowl, tying him for all-time appearances. He and Head Coach Bill Belichick are a Coach/Quarterback tandem with the most Super Bowl appearances now.
And we’re back! Guys stepped up and while the game was a dogfight, they prevailed in the end. The Ravens were shocked when their kicker missed a 32-yard field goal to tie the game and send it into overtime. Wide left! Wide left! Wide left! ;)
*dances again*

Date: 2012-01-23 01:50 am (UTC)First it looks they've won, then they've lost, then they've won! LOL!
Tom was DETERMINED to get that TD! :)
What a dogfight in San Francisco right now!

Date: 2012-01-23 03:58 am (UTC)LOL True! Game's finally over now, but boy was it a mess. I felt like it was more of a 49ers loss than a Giants win. But it looks like we're getting a Patriots/Giants rematch in the Superbowl anyway!

Date: 2012-01-23 02:43 am (UTC)The failure to score touchdowns in the redzone is the biggest issue, cause this game would not have been close otherwise. They were able to move the ball well against a great defense, so that bodes well for dealing withe Giants or 9ers.
Very happy for you and the Patriots, hopefully MHK continues to look out for them.

Date: 2012-01-23 04:22 pm (UTC)Gronk DID seem okay. Two weeks' rest will definitely help. :)
Yeah, when they were held to field goals I was getting nervous. Touchdowns, people! Touchdowns! :)
I loved Tommy's leap over the defense to score the winning TD. LOL!
Thank you, dear! The team is very aware of how important this season is. They would love to win it for Robert Kraft.
