Well, I saw it! What can I say?

So there you have it. A- because of the grand scope, a coherent story, and very good performances by a huge cast. Also the 'small moments' were good. Emotions were engaged.

Only one post-credit scene this time around, and it's a clever one.

Well, at least we don't have to wait 3 years for the sequel like Star Wars fans did after the ending of The Empire Strikes Back! back in the day.

I've already been inspired to write a trilogy of poems by this film. :)

Well, riffling through my draft folder, I realized that I had never posted my review for Captain America 3: Civil War! Oh, well, little chance anyone will be spoiled by now, but it'll be behind a cut just in case. It's unedited, so these were my first impressions. Enjoy!

Wow, just saw Captain America 3: Civil War! I give it an A- overall. The first Avengers and first two Captain America movies were A+ ratings for me, because they were nearly perfect. This film got a lower grade because I'm not a fan of the Civil War premise (hated it in the comics). I prefer my superheroes working together against a common foe instead of beating each other up.

However, this film was leagues better than Batman vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

Hi, all! Since I was so quiet for such a long time I feel like posting about anything and everything, so be warned! ;)

Maintenance was supposed to come Friday to pound in the nails so I could hang calendars and pictures but never showed up. I don't want to start out like a complaining resident, but since I was promised they would come, I'm going down bright and early to the Manager's Office tomorrow and request if they could come in the morning. Whether it'll take a week or more to get this simple task done, who knows? Chasing people is part of life, after all. It's a definite negative checkmark, though, as at home I'd just do it myself. The policy is Maintenance does it, not the resident.

My extra icons will be kaput on the 14th. :( I know, I know, I'm a nag about them, but I can't renew them myself for reasons I would prefer not to go into. Just know that I would do it if I could and spare you the laments! ;)

I'm going to start going over some of the fic I have in my posting queue and hopefully will get something up soon. It's weird to see my journal with no fic posted in so long.

I need to go see Captain America 2 again soon!

We can put things on the doors here (yay, like Media West!) so I'm going to get a doohickey and put up something, at least by the fall. I need to have something Halloween-ish by then and Christmas-y after that.

I will be hosting a Halloween Challenge this year (possibly my only one for 2014), so keep that in mind. The official notice will go out in August, and I'd love to see more participation this year. Remember, crossovers are welcome, so if you're hot on Steve/Bucky or anything Marvel right now, that's acceptable to mix with the DCU characters.

I hated not hosting the Dick Grayson Challenge this year but things were just too crazy. Maybe Dickie ideas will fit for Halloween! ;)

I still can't find my box of CDs which also has my Public Enemies DVD and, ironically, the Superman/Batman Public Enemies DVD. I can't find one box of Christmas ornaments, either. Oh, well, they're all here. I just need to come across them! :)

I did a total dusting, polishing, sweeping and Swiffering today, cleared out another bag and box, and plan to go sit out on the deck soon.

Damn, I wish the Patriots had taken Michael Sam in the draft! I would have been so proud of them being the first organization in the NFL to employ an openly gay football player. Good luck, St. Louis Rams! :)

Yes, friends, it's one of those oddball dates again like 10/10/10 or 11/11/11 that we've had recently. They say some people are getting married on this day even though it's a Tuesday. Ah, well. :)

I did see the JFK special last night for an hour and taped the rest. It's on again tonight. Good home movies and new pix I hadn't seen before. It's amazing to me how he managed to get out of bed in the morning with all that pain. The steroids he was taking to control his Addison's Disease ate away at his spine when he was just starting out in the Senate. He underwent risky back surgery, extra-risky because Addison's Disease makes one prone to infections. He did indeed contract an infection and was given Last Rites at least twice. He'd been at death's door so many times from childhood on that he was pretty fatalistic about assassination attempts, and that's why he didn't worry too much about them.

PBS is also covering the assassination on Wednesday night at 10:00 EST on Secrets Of The Dead. And the cable channels have several specials in the next few weeks, so check your local listings if interested.

Today's my day off and I'm going to see Thor 2: The Dark World! I'll have a review up sometime in the next few days if you're curious. :) I hope to see the Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier trailer. The Thor movie is King of the box office. Marvel is rakin' it in! DC, take note.

Hi, luvs! Life has been terribly bizzy and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future, so don't expect me to be on-line as much as in the past. :) But I still have some time every day to check my mail and flist, and to slip in a few fics now and then on the ol' journal. ;)

As far as profic goes, the work is slow because it's been expanded, and FFP is a start-up with its own fits and starts. I thank everyone who are still interested. I hope that publication will be this year but who knows in the crazy publishing business? Anyway, I'm getting valuable experience.

Anticipation is half the fun, and that's what I'm feeling for Iron Man 3, The Great Gatsby and Star Trek 2: Into Darkness for the month of May. I expect nothing! I've been disappointed too many times in the past but have high hopes for at least Iron Man 3. I'm also anticipating Man Of Steel (very nervous about that one!), Thor 3: The Dark World, and The Lone Ranger. I'll consider Man Of Steel an Elseworld, like Smallville. My blood pressure will thank me! :)

Happily anticipating Captain America: The Winter Soldier, too, but I don't think that's due out 'til next year. I remember reading the comics as a kid and wanting to hug poor Cap, who mourned over Bucky, his best pal. Probably survivor's guilt mixed in with his PTSD, though they didn't call it PTSD at the time. I'll admit that I 'shipped Steve/Bucky as much as Steve/Tony way before any of the movies. :)

I'm not sure what to expect with The Lone Ranger. Frankly, it looks kind of weird. It's a sure bet that you'll have to throw out any notions of the old TV shows and movies with Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels. A pity that the 1981 remake bombed so badly and now this one could do the same, but hopefully they'll rein in Johnny Depp and the film will be coherent. :)

Nice weather lately, with that special light you only get in April. I walked home from a meeting on Wednesday night and enjoyed seeing the full moon in all its glory.

OMIGOSH, THE AVENGERS MOVIE IS FANTASTIC!!!

I went to see the movie as a treat for myself after so many worries lately and thoroughly enjoyed it! Lots to talk about and oodles of spoilers, so be warned!

I just hope that The Dark Knight Rises can compete with this film. The Avengers are smashing box office records like the Hulk. Marvel put in a long-term plan which is coming to full fruition with its mega-opening last weekend. They carefully cultivated a series of films showcasing their heroes and culminated in this Avengers extravaganza.

What has DC done in the past four year? Released the highly successful The Dark Knight but also Jonah Hex and Green Lantern. Real box office winners there, folks! They had a Justice League movie planned but felt that people would be too confused if they included Superman and Batman and if the ‘verse ended up different from their films. I can’t help but wonder if Christopher Nolan’s ridiculous insistence that Batman is the only hero nixed the JLA idea and any connection of DC heroes. I suppose Green Lantern never mentioned any other heroes, and Man Of Steel won’t. Marvel treated its Trinity of Captain America, Iron Man and Thor with respect. While DC will always green-light Superman and Batman, Wonder Woman will never get a movie. I suppose DC considers her out and Green Lantern in when it comes to the Trinity now. *shakes fist at DC and Warner Brothers*

I highly recommend seeing The Avengers (They are already green-lighted for the sequel, which isn’t surprising when you look at the box office numbers). Chris Evans said that originally they wanted him to sign for nine movies but reduced it to six. I assume that means movies with one hero mixed in with multi-hero Avengers films. You know, actually acknowledging that other heroes exist! What a concept!
