Fortress Of Summer

Argh, once again I come hat in hand. My userpics package will expire by the 21st. With medical expenses, my rent being raised, and tire repairs, I have nothing left for this renewal. I'd like to enjoy fun icons like the one on this entry (it always makes me giggle), and add a few for the Wonder Woman movie soon.

If anyone could help me out, I would be most grateful. Thank you, and Happy St. Patrick's Day! :)

I just realized that it's close to my 10th anniversary here on LJ. I created this journal on October 24, 2006, made my first post on November 12th, and my first fic posting on November 21st (Announcement I: The Ready Room), introducing myself to the DC Comics community here on-line. Little did I know the friends I would make and the prolific writing in my future! Good times, good times. :)

I don't know if I'll come up with something for the anniversary, but I wanted to acknowledge it to all my friends here on my f-list, and who have stuck around when a lot of people took off for shinier baubles platforms. A big THANK YOU to all the people who have encouraged me during low points, celebrated with me in good times, and helped me with gifting me with paid accounts and extra icon userpics, which has really made life here more fun. :)

I've had a great time reading, writing, and hosting my Challenges over the years, too. The 2016 DCU Fic/Art Halloween Challenge is my next-to-last Challenge, as I'm seriously considering doing something special for Wonder Woman next year to commemorate her first ever live-action movie. That will be my grand final Challenge and how better to do it than with one of my all-time favorite characters? :) I'm pretty proud of the many Challenges I've hosted (Complete List here) and another big THANK YOU to all who contributed during these past ten years.

It's been a rainy morning with plenty of fog, but we need the rain after a summer of drought. The leaves are turning bright colors and my sister and I are going to the orchard tomorrow to get fresh apples (can't get any fresher!). Life is good. Enjoy your weekend, my friends! :)

Just a reminder that my 2016 DCU Fic/Art Halloween Challenge is up and running. Get in while you can because I'm pretty sure this is going to be the last Halloween Challenge I host for the foreseeable future. I might do something next year to celebrate Wonder Woman's first live-action movie EVAH, but after that, I'll be retiring my Mod Tiara. It seems as if people on LJ are more interested in Kinkmemes and Big Bangs, and I'm not interested in hosting those.

I had a good run. Check out the Fic/Art Challenges page and you'll see a blueprint of LJ's 'hotness' and how it cooled in the past decade. You might want to get into the holiday spirit (ahem) and check out the fanworks from previous Halloweens. Maybe you'll get inspired for this bat swan song! ;)

As you can see by the icon on this post, I am busy utilizing my userpic packages and gathering more cool pix to showcase. I can't resist Clark using his heat vision to cook the hot dogs and burgers on the grill. :)

Speaking of cook-outs, I did attend one over the weekend with the requisite menu: hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad, potato salad, garden salad, chips, dips, pickles, olives...you know, good stuff! :) Everything tastes better on the grill!

Haven't been around much lately due to RL stuff, including a stint in the hospital. Tests, tests, tests!

Damn, got back on-line and got a notice saying my paid account will run out on June 14th. If some kind soul will help me out, I would be SO grateful! I'd hate to waste the gift of my anonymous benefactor of the extra userpics a few months ago because without a paid account I can't use those extras! They gotcha coming and going!

I plan on posting a ficcish update soon. Believe it or not, I may have some things to post this month! :)

Thanks to all of you who listened to my moping and moaning about losing them. I know it's a small thing, and some might think it's stoopid, but we all have our quirks and this is one of mine. *hugs icons tight* I was pretty bummed with the loss of so many icons, particularly a bunch of Steve/Diana and Bruce/Dick lovelies, but so many more!

I TOTALLY appreciate this! What a great thing to cheer up a bleh Monday, though I admit a snowstorm the day after the first day of spring is pretty funny and very typical of New England! :)

I might even be inspired to do a little more fanficcing! :)

I found a notification in my inbox this morning that the wonderful crooked_halo has extended my extra userpic packages in addition to generous Anon! *dances* Wow, what a great thing to wake up to this morning! THANK YOU, m'dear! MUCH appreciated! :)

Still stressed this week but I hope that a major worry gets resolved in my favor. *hope, hope, hope* Maybe my creative juices will start to flow again once some stress is gone.

I am working on a long WIP at the moment, and still no idea about any Big Bangs this year. I'm hoping that Avengers 2: The Age Of Ultron helps inspire me in a few months. I'm not sure if the Superman vs. Batman movie will do the same, but that might be next year, anyway? Whatever the case, I think Marvel has the better chance of jump-starting my creative battery cables. ;)

I did have another WIP that was going along pretty well until it fell by the wayside. Hopefully I can pick that up in 2015. We shall see.
