I decided to add a little more in my review of the Supergirl finale.

Still got my second wind! I did a lot of editing last weekend and hope to do at least half this weekend, as I've got other stuff crowding my schedule. Hey,The Incredibles might be part of that crowd! Can't believe it's been 14 years since the first movie. :)

I'm fairly pleased with the profic editing. I'm definitely going to add some more scenes but letting those simmer as I streamline my first draft.

Last night I cooked two ears of fresh corn and had them with a tomato-and-cucumber salad drizzled with fat-free Italian dressing. Mmm!

I'm squeezing in some fanfic on my writing schedule as I owe birthday fic, though I know the birthday gals won't mind them a little late. :) I have one finished (needs editing) and finally got the idea for the second one today. I'm rollin', baby!

I heard that the Wonder Woman sequel is set in 1984. Will she be working at the taco fast food joint like she did in the '90s? ;) And some interesting Steve Trevor news, but since it's a spoiler, keeping mum!

Thank You!

Yay for me! My sister couldn't get tomorrow off (my actual birthday), but she got today off and she surprised me with a trip to The Hall At Patriots Place, the museum dedicated to all things Patriots! Woot! :)

We saw the 5th Super Bowl trophy, some new exhibits, like Edelman's helmet and gloves he was wearing when he made the Miracle Catch, and a lot of other fun goodies that gladdens a Patriots' fan's heart! :)

We then went to CbsScene for lunch and BunnyGirl ordered a salad with tomatoes and feta cheese while I went with a burger and fries, complete with tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, mustard and red onions. We also started with spicy hot Buffalo chicken tenders! And, I got a surprise at the end of the meal: three waitresses bringing over a dish of strawberry ice cream and singing, "Happy Birthday!" :)

The view was great: we were able to see into Gillette Stadium and view the five championship banners! :)

So now my actual birthday is tomorrow with great memories. :)

A Happy Fourth of July to my fellow Americans! Despite the circus in Washington, we're still here, and that counts for something!

Did the cook-out thing over the weekend (hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, the whole nine yards). I'm going to be spending the day quietly catching up on my reading, writing a little, and maybe working on my Due South records project. I may tune in the James Cagney classic, Yankee Doodle Dandy tonight, in between checking out the show on the Esplanade in Boston.

I'm very happy to watch the fireworks from the comfort of my own couch. Somehow sitting for hours in the blazing sun with thousands of other people awaiting the fireworks show at night doesn't appeal to me. :)

Enjoy your day! Today, we are all New England Patriots! ;)

Imbolc

Hope all who celebrate had a good Imbolc today. :)

For everyone, Happy Groundhog Day! :)

I've been enjoying Super Bowl Week. Found out that Tom Brady's mother has been very ill for the last 18 months, just about the length of time he suffered through the witch hunt by the NFL. He got choked up talking about his hero, his father, during Media Night. He's very close to his parents and his older sisters. His parents go to every game, though this year the illness prevented that. When he first moved to Massachusetts to start his career, two of his sisters came from California to stay with him that first year with the Pats. :)

Got an invitation to a Super Bowl party at my sister's. We might get pizza or Subway sandwiches or BunnyGirl might cook. Up to her! :)

Well, going to turn in now. Zzzzzzz!!! :)

Timeless

Hi, luvs!

I'm only going by the promos, as obviously the show debuts tonight, but if you're a fan of time travel, you may want to give Timeless a look. It's on NBC tonight at 10:00 and hopefully will be a good show. :)

Fall is finally here! After an early September heat wave, we're in cooler weather now. The trees are starting to turn, and I've got my baby pumpkin and gourds decorating my place. The colors are all red, yellow, and orange with some black thrown in for Halloween! :) My sister and I will be going to the orchard in a few weeks and I might take a trip soon to Trader Joe's for some mini pumpkin pies and cookies. :)

Football is in full swing, and the real season begins for us Pats fans with the return of Tom Brady from his unjust suspension. Watch out, NFL! Could be scorched earth if we're lucky!

Have a good day and enjoy the best season of all! :)

My sister BunnyGirl won't be in town for my birthday this Tuesday, so she treated me early to my present. Besides, this wasn't a thing meant to be stuffed in after work.

Hi, luvs!

As you can see by the icon on this post, I am busy utilizing my userpic packages and gathering more cool pix to showcase. I can't resist Clark using his heat vision to cook the hot dogs and burgers on the grill. :)

Speaking of cook-outs, I did attend one over the weekend with the requisite menu: hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad, potato salad, garden salad, chips, dips, pickles, olives...you know, good stuff! :) Everything tastes better on the grill!

P.S. To get the full effect, check this post out on my journal with its cook-out theme! :)

Happy Fourth Of July to my fellpw Americans!!!

View a parade, eat a hot dog, watch some fireworks. Chill at the beach or at the backyard barbecue. Have fun! :)

Happy Canada Day to all our friends to the North! May it be a festive day! :)

How do Canadians celebrate their national holiday? Here in the U.S. it's with parades, cook-outs and fireworks. What's considered 'American foods' are hot dogs and hamburgers, and you add in potato salad, pasta salad, chips 'n' dips, and all sorts of goodies! :) You might get a band concert on the town common (and in Boston, it's a big show on the Esplanade). Lots of red-white-and-blue!

What are Canada's national foods? I know French fries with vinegar are popular (or were about fifteen years ago), and poutine. What is considered a quintessential Canadian dish?

I like the fact that in Niagara Falls, the two countries share a week of fireworks because their national holidays are so close together. :)

Hi, luvs!

Today is Patriots Day (no, not those Patriots, heh heh) and so the traditional events take place on this day: the re-enactment of Lexington and Concord at dawn, the Boston Marathon, and the Boston Red Sox playing an 11:05 game at Fenway Park. This year Mark Wahlberg is filming scenes for his movie about the Boston Marathon bombing. He's a local guy who made good in Hollywood and understands what went on here, so I'll be curious to see how the movie turns out.

Going out later but puttering around the Internet this morning. Lovely spring weather! May get up to 60 degrees later, a week after we had snow! :) I'll be meeting friends for lunch at a local seafood restaurant and while I'm usually a haddock or cod kind of girl, I may go for swordfish or tilapia today to mix it up. We'll share a jumbo shrimp appetizer, which is perfect, because while I like shellfish, I can only eat a small amount in one sitting. One jumbo shrimp will be just right, Baby Bear! :)

May your Monday be festive, holiday or not! :)
bradygirl_12: (thanksgiving turkey (colorful))
Thanksgiving Week is one of my favorite weeks of the year. It's very relaxing and quiet, though of course that excludes if one is cooking the dinner or traveling on the busiest travel day of the year. The airlines are bad enough to deal with without pre-Thanksgiving travel!

Generally school is only three days for the week, and often workplaces are only open for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. If they are open on Friday, it's usually pretty quiet where you work since most people have taken the day off, like the week between Christmas and New Year's. Of course, that doesn't count in retail!

Stores should not be allowed to open on Thanksgiving, period. The greed of corporate America never fails.

It's a great week to relax before the whirlwind of the Christmas season! So have a Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! :)

Hi, luvs!

Fall is in full swing here. The trees are starting to turn colors and the weather, while a little too warm for my taste, is semi-autumnal. I’ll be going to the orchard one of these weekends soon (getting some fresh apples and an apple pie), and the apartment is decorated with red, yellow, and orange, complete with ceramic and real pumpkins. :) I even have my flying Witch on the front door!

A reminder that the 2015 DCU Fic/Art Halloween Challenge is running. If you have a Marvel Comics idea that you can crossover with DC, remember that crossovers are welcome, and is not limited to Marvel.

I bought some apple/pomegranate lotion the other day. It smells divine!

I usually don’t buy doughnuts or muffins, but during October it’s a weekly run to Dunkin’ Donuts to get both in pumpkin flavors! Dontcha just LOVE pumpkin flavor?

I received my Trader Joe’s Frequent Flyer in the mail a few days ago. It’s the October (Pumpkin) edition. Sweet!

Patriots/Cowboys this Sunday! Whoo hoo!

I’m going to a Halloween party next Wednesday. I’m going as a Patriots fan with my Tom Brady jersey, my Patriots cap, and anything else I can scare up that’s Pats-themed. :)
bradygirl_12: (pin-up girl (happy birthday!))
Yay, my sister invited me over to her house tomorrow to watch the Pats/Jaguars game. She's going to spring for lunch and I'll get some cool birthday goodies. Tomorrow is gonna be FUN!!! :)

I already got a birthday gift of BunnyGirl treating me to one of the local fairs. She paid for my admission and bought me ice cream! ;) We also went to lunch after and I had baked haddock, saffron rice, and broccoli. We both shared garlic bread for our appetizers and Bunny had minestrone soup for her meal. She also gave me a Star Trek-themed card, which was awesome sauce, of course! :)

G'night, all! I'll try and get on-line sometime tomorrow. Monday for sure! :)

Hi, luvs!

I'm enjoying the pre-Oscar Red Carpet Show on E! I love seeing the gowns and jewelry. The actual show itself is a snoozer. ;)

I haven't seen any of the nominated movies this year. My movie buddies and I fell out of our twice-a-month movie routine last year due to weather, work, illness, etc. We haven't started this year due to weather issues, but maybe we can get things going again. It didn't help that last year's crop of good movies was pretty thin.

I enjoy Oscar Night for that buzz of excitement and the gathering of Hollywood. I love going back-and-forth between the world of Fandom/Hollywood and my sports world, even though there are many similarities between them! I have never liked locking myself into one box. I prefer multiple fandoms, both movies and sports, and enjoy diner food as much as a four-star restaurant.

Why limit yourself? Is it a snobbish thing for some people? Wouldn't be caught dead watching anything but PBS or Mad Men or would NEVER watch any superhero TV show or movie? People look down their noses at certain entertainment (okay, reality shows might fit, heh heh) but so many fannish people diss sports, too. I like a world of variety, and what's more varied than watching the Hollywood elite try and say interesting stuff without a script? ;)

So sit back, get out your cheese and crackers, put your feet up and watch the glitz 'n' glamour! :)
bradygirl_12: (steve--diana (typewriter))
Ack, keep forgetting to do this! Have two more entries to go. :)

1) Still basking in the afterglow of the Patriots' Super Bowl victory. There was a lot of disappointment since the last time the Lombardi Trophy was hoisted, so it's all good now. :)

2) ESPN's big breaking story from last night about a Patriots locker room attendant possibly doing nefarious things was refuted by another ESPN reporter, Adam Schefter, as attendant Jim McNally was given the 'unapproved' football he tried to give to an alternate official BY NFL OFFICIALS, one of whom has since been fired for stealing the balls that were earmarked for charity. Oh, yeah, they got the Patriots dead-to-rights on that one! ;)

3) I got a yummy meal at the deli: a toasted marinated chicken grinder with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions and mustard and spicy fries. :)

4) The first season of the Wonder Woman TV series is cycling through. This season just gives me pure joy watching it. Sure, I know it has flaws, but shouldn't you have a show that just gives you joy? The later seasons was more generic superhero. The first season focused on what made Diana special. It also had the Diana/Steve romance, which always is a plus in my book! :)
bradygirl_12: (yule (deer))
A Merry Yule to all! :)

The Winter Solstice is upon us! When I woke up around 7:15 this morning, it looked like the middle of the night! ;) Cloudy and a bit rainy here, and snow showers predicted for later.

We won't be having a white Christmas this year. :( It'll be heavy rains and winds on Christmas Eve, clearing by morning. The only good thing about no snow is less worry about clearing it and driving, but the weather may still affect people's plans.

As for today, perfect day for getting all snug under my quilt and having hot pizza! :) Last weekend my sister and her husband came over to watch the game, but I'm going solo today while I watch Tom and the boys compete against the Jets.

Enjoy your day, my friends! :)
