Hi, luvs!

It's a wonderfully sunny day, which is appropriate as it's the Summer Solstice! Whoo hoo! :)

Funny how it's now entering the darker half of the year when it's summertime, but the days will start to shrink after today. Every day is a gift, right?

For all you Clex fans out there, the [livejournal.com profile] clexmas Spring Fling! Reverse Bang has closed art submissions, but now it's time for the writers, vidders and music mixers to get busy! The Bang is open to all versions of the Clex, not just Smallville, so if you've got ideas from comics, cartoons, or movies, you can use those, too!

Congrats to Cleveland sports fans for a 52-year championship drought in ANY sport ending last night as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 of the National Basketball Association's Championship Series. It's a sweet feeling, isn't it? :)

Just got back from the eye doctor with a clean bill of health. Always a little nervous, y'know, because...eyes! So I am very relieved. Wearing dark glasses while my eyes are dilated. :)

Now that the has been properly pimped, we turn our attention to the [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang! Eagerly anticipating Captain America 3: Civil War? Finally ready to write that Steve/Bucky epic that's been nagging at you since Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier? Checking in at Heartbreak Hotel for the Steve/Tony split? Trying to figure out the new world of Marvel Comics since the Incursions erased the status quo? Then head over to [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang and sign up! You've got until May 15th, authors! :)

Once the movie's out in more countries, expect a TON of inspired sign-ups! :)

It's that time of year again! :) The [livejournal.com profile] dcu_bang is open for author sign-ups until May 15th. Got an idea that just won't leave you? Inspired by the latest crop of movies and TV shows? Excited by DC: Rebirth? Or do you enjoy the classics? You will have plenty of room to shine as this Bang is a lot smaller than its sister challenge, [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang.

Quick rec: if you haven't checked out Legends Of Tomorrow or only watched the first episode, give it a(nother) try. I believe it's improved. Don't read the message boards. They are havens for nattering nabobs of negativity! :)

Spoilers )

The new ABC series, The Family, is uber-creepy. I don’t intend to write a review every week as with the comics-based shows, but if you want to get in on the ground floor, catch up on Week 1 with On Demand. It aired last Thursday on ABC but its second episode airs this Sunday (its regular timeslot) after Once Upon A Time. Trigger warning: talk of child rape.

It’s not Supernatural-creepy, but it’s compelling. )

The World War II episodes of the classic Wonder Woman series is starting their cycle again on ME TV tonight at 8:00 EST. I'm not a big fan of when the series updated itself to the then-contemporary 1970s, as I thought that a lot of what made Diana special was lost, and she became a generic agent. The Pilot and first 13 episodes did a lot of things right, and each one is a little gem. :)

Tonight, Wonder Woman goes up against Baroness Von Gunther!

Hi, luvs!

Fall is in full swing here. The trees are starting to turn colors and the weather, while a little too warm for my taste, is semi-autumnal. I’ll be going to the orchard one of these weekends soon (getting some fresh apples and an apple pie), and the apartment is decorated with red, yellow, and orange, complete with ceramic and real pumpkins. :) I even have my flying Witch on the front door!

A reminder that the 2015 DCU Fic/Art Halloween Challenge is running. If you have a Marvel Comics idea that you can crossover with DC, remember that crossovers are welcome, and is not limited to Marvel.

I bought some apple/pomegranate lotion the other day. It smells divine!

I usually don’t buy doughnuts or muffins, but during October it’s a weekly run to Dunkin’ Donuts to get both in pumpkin flavors! Dontcha just LOVE pumpkin flavor?

I received my Trader Joe’s Frequent Flyer in the mail a few days ago. It’s the October (Pumpkin) edition. Sweet!

Patriots/Cowboys this Sunday! Whoo hoo!

I’m going to a Halloween party next Wednesday. I’m going as a Patriots fan with my Tom Brady jersey, my Patriots cap, and anything else I can scare up that’s Pats-themed. :)

Good morning, luvs!

I have been squeeing the past few days about the sneak preview of Convergence: Wonder Woman #1! It's absolutely the way I see Steve and Diana! Their easy relationship, waking up together in the morning, all-around sexiness on both their parts...you get the picture. ;) You can check out some scans on HeckYeahSteveTrevor over on Tumblr. Get a looksee while you can, because knowing DC, they'll have someone close to Diana decapitated or disemboweled before it's all over. We can't have nice things! But these scans are VERY nice indeed! :)

Tell 'em [livejournal.com profile] bradygirl_12 sent you! ;)
bradygirl_12: (lobster dinner)
Hi, luvs!

Since it's getting closer to summer, I thought I'd post this link to the Boothbay Lobster Wharf. Whenever we were in Boothbay on vacation, my family would always visit this place. It was known as The Lobstermen's Co-Op back then, and they've made a lot of changes since our last visit 13 years ago, but the basics are the same: fresh seafood right off the boat in a harbor setting. :) And if you get a craving for lobster, they ship anywhere! :)

Hi, luvs!

Since I signed up for the [livejournal.com profile] dcu_bang, I'm curious. Have you signed up for any Big Bangs lately? Considering it? Not considering it but would like to pimp/rec?

In addition to the [livejournal.com profile] dcu_bang, there is [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang, which has closed its sign-ups but [livejournal.com profile] dcu_bang is still open.

A few that I found of interest:

Hi, luvs!

The [livejournal.com profile] dcu_bang is extending author sign-ups 'til the end of the month, so if you've got a story idea in mind, go check it out!

Not surprisingly, [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang has over 300 sign-ups so they've closed. I'm sure there will be a lot of Steve/Bucky love this round! :)
bradygirl_12: (bruce--dick (star-kissed 1))
Yes, I signed up for the [livejournal.com profile] dcu_bang! :) Since my Bruce/Dick AU is going well, three-fourths finished and 37,500+ words in, I decided the stress factor would be mild. I might hit 50,000 words, but whatever the case, I'm having fun! :)

Sign-ups open!

Omigosh, I just got back from seeing Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier! There will be fiiiiiiic!!!!! Um, okay, on to the review!

Spoilers galore! )

Well, at least I can read [livejournal.com profile] avengerkink and all the Interwebz without getting spoiled now!

Would I recommend this movie? You bet I would! And the fanworks coming from this ought to be amazing! So many pairings/friendships/angsting, so little time! ;)
bradygirl_12: (christian (oscar winner))
Hi, luvs!

Yay, my man Christian has been nominated for an Oscar again! *dances* It's for his role in American Hustle, known as the 'Worcester Movie' around these parts because several scenes were filmed in Central Massachusetts.

Quick List of the movie's major nominations:

Best Picture
Best Actor: Christian Bale
Best Actress: Amy Adams
Best Supporting Actor: Bradley Cooper
Best Supporting Actress: Jennifer Lawrence
Best Director: David O. Russell
Best Original Screenplay: Eric Warren Singer & David O. Russell
Best Production Design
Best Costume

Bruce and Lois did well in the nominations! ;)

You can find the whole list of nominees here at: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv-movies/academy-awards-2014-nominations-full-list-nominees-article-1.1581641

The film has a decent shot of taking home Best Picture, though I'm not sure they'll win in any other major category except for Jennifer Lawrence as Best Supporting Actress (gods, was she a hoot!). I would love to see Christian take home a second gold statuette, but he's already got one and a second nomination doesn't hurt the ol' career. :)

I do think that Jeremy Renner should have gotten a Best Supporting Actor nomination. He was outstanding as Camden's Mayor Carmen Polito in the film.

American Hustle is a funny, sly film with wonderful '70s trappings and an excellent cast. Go see it if you haven't already! :)

You can check out my review here but it has major spoilers.
bradygirl_12: (christian (oscar winner))
I saw a very enjoyable movie, American Hustle, with my sister this vacation week. I would highly recommend it. Set in the 1970s, it centers around the FBI sting Abscam. It stars Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner. The first four have been nominated (Golden Globes) for Best Actor/Actress/Supporting and Jeremy should be, too. The film has been nominated for Best Comedy.

Many of the movie’s scenes were filmed in Central Massachusetts in a city called Worcester.

BTW, there is a comics connection here: Christian Bale, Amy Adam, and Jeremy Renner have all played comics characters: Bruce Wayne, Lois Lane and Clint Barton. :)

Read about the local color that isn’t New York or Los Angeles. Slightly spoilerish but nothing major. )

Want a break from superhero movies or action flicks that rack up the body count? Tired of comedies that rely strictly on bodily fluid and sex jokes? Then American Hustle might be for you!

Review: Major Spoilers )
bradygirl_12: (clark--ollie (country inn dinner))
Hey, guys! Tonight's Arrow is the last season's finale and is pretty action-packed. It also has a scene in the final act that made me get the tissues out. I rarely cry at TV shows and movies (too jaded) but this one really got the waterworks going. It's a good set-up for the start of the new season next week, so if you want to catch it, tune in the CW at 8:00. :)
bradygirl_12: (lobster dinner)
Well, I submitted my drafts for the final two volumes of my profic trilogy. Whew! There will be a lot of work to do once I get the edits back but right now I'm taking a break. I've already stepped up my social calendar for the week, LOL! I went to see The Butler last night with a friend. Very good movie! I'd recommend it, especially if you're a student of American history and the civil rights movement. There were lighthearted moments but it was mostly a serious drama that I admit had me crying a few times.

Just got back from an early dinner with friends. Seafood, whoot! Golden haddock with French fries and coleslaw, yum! I've been craving seafood ever since I've been working on my Avengers beach vacation story. :)

So, maybe do a little writing of fanfic for a few days and just relax. The heat wave is back so I don't know how much I'll get done, but I'm just drifting along and seeing how it goes. :)
bradygirl_12: (witch (sexy))
Do you hear the whisper of leaves skittering down the sidewalk? Does the moon appear a little fuller and brighter as there's a touch of frost in the air? Do you walk a little faster past the houses with their grinning Jack O'Lanterns while the trees rustle and bend in the wind and you resist the urge to look over your shoulder while your heart pounds and your pulse races?

Then it's time for the 2013 DCU Fic/Art Halloween Challenge! :)

This is BIG, folks! ;)

New prompts have been added into the cauldron. And you know how OCD I usually am about alphabetizing things? Well, the lists of prompts were just written down as I thought of them, so you'll have to sift through the jumble like the curio cabinet in your local New Age shop. You pull out the little drawers and have no idea what you'll find! :)

This is always my most popular Challenge. Take a look at last year's Master List and see the number and variety of contributions we had from talented people. I hope to see your name on this year's list! :) People who enter get a special notice announcing their contribution on my journal and are placed on the Master List for eternity posterity. ;) You also receive a fantastic banner already created by [livejournal.com profile] ctbn60! Check it out here. :)

Hi, luvs! Did you have a good Canada Day and Fourth of July last week? :)

Bizzy at work today but with enough time to sneak in this entry. How do you like my newest icon? It was created by the talented [livejournal.com profile] ctbn60. You should totally go over to her journal and check out how many wonderful banners, icons, story covers, etc., that she has for display. The Man Of Steel icons are here and are absolutely gorgeous! :)

Is anyone else a Faora/Nathan fan? ;)

So, darlings, it's HOT as you-know-what here. Terrible weather. I can't get people who say they love hot, humid weather. People LIKE standing or sitting still and sweating? *shakes head*

Writing goes well. I finally might be able to post a few things later this week. If not, probably next week.
bradygirl_12: (clark--bruce (hopeful))
Hi, luvs! [livejournal.com profile] teridop has drawn an incredibly beautiful illustration in honor of my slavefic, Rainbow's Freedom. Please check it out! Note: NSFW as it contains nudity.

She also has more illustrations honoring fanfics. She just joined LJ and S/B fandom, so let's give her a warm welcome! :)
